I know that most people can't tolerate breads. What about these other bread type items;

French Toast

pancakes

Waffles

Muffins

Pastries

English Muffins

French fries

Pita bread

Flat bread

Pie crust

Stuffing

Oh, one more thing, would baked Beans be considered a mushie??

I can not tollerate any of the items on your list as they are to dry and dense to go throught my band , i get an instant pb with 1 bite, so ive given up on then all together, i can can eat baked Beans though, but not many as they are real filling.

I heard that all levened breads are a no no........I ate crackers 2 times and the last time I PB'd because it was stuck.....not worth it anymore to me, anyway.....

I've been banded since 9th Feb 2007 and am still on the mushy foods. I can't tolerate bread but managed a slice of toast once...the next time it was returned to sender!! Apparently the crunchy stuff is easier to tolerate (haven't tried any yet though) and some people have reported finding fajhitas and pitta bread more easily tolerated.

Pie crust....NOOOO....You just had a band fitted so that you can't eat these naughty things, and you don't want too much carbs anyway...and then only complex carbs. Forget pastry and pie crust and all things calorie laden. It's hard to know what to eat when bread is out of the equation but you get used to it pretty quickly.

Yes, Baked Beans are a mushy...and full of Protein too so a good thing to eat...but the 'skins' can irritate in the early days.

Oops, you missed donuts, nope can't and don't do those either. None of the above, and I can thank my band for that....as Martha would say, "that's a good thing".

I was banded on 1/19 and am now on a "regular" diet. I can tolerate toast, crackers, pie crust and even store bought birthday cake. No rolls, regular white/wheat bread, stuffing or homemade cakes. That's an immedidate PB for me. Of course have to be careful with how much of what I can tolerate I actually eat as is high in carbs and is not recommended for weight loss purposes. But a little here and there.

I feel as though I might be starving once I can eat "real food". If I probably won't be able to touch any of these products I'm going starve. I'm a very picky eater. I'm not big on vegetables. I don't know what I'm going to do.

I can't tolerate most of those things, especially pita bread. Even drier crunchy things like pretzels are a serious no-no for me. I haven't tried moister things like muffins or pancakes yet, but I'm not sure I will even go down that road.

I guess you need to decide how important losing weight is for you. I got the band to help save my life and I am more than happy to let some of these foods go. I too am a picky eater but the band helped retrain my brain as to what I can and can't eat.

Most of the items on your list are not good ones for me. Like i tell anyone, I can a bite of anything. ONE BITE! Most of the time, I just wanted the taste of the food anyway so it really is not a problem. It was a problem when I was a month post op but not any more. Now I see the big picture.

I ate whatever I wanted and in large amounts for over 30 years. It was time for me to change.

I'm of the same mindset as Spydr,,,I'm happy to let some of those old problem foods go. IF I fill myself with 1)Protein, 2)veggies, then I dont crave starches. My dietician said anything can be a mushie(anthing thats on my fool plan for life list)as long as I 'mushify' it in my Magic Bullet,,hahaha. I cleaned my pantry out before surgery,,and let me tell you,,it was awfully bare! I stocked up ONLY with the things listed on my dietician's list. For me,,outta sight,,outta mind. The times I HAVE overeatten,,its been with fruits, sugar free popsicles, Protein and fresh amonds. Mashed potatoes are my worst food to control,,so I ntry not to include it in my food plan too often. That zero calorie butter spray is AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I remember those old days of Molly McButter,,gross,,that was SO GROSS!! I've also become a big label reader,,if something tempts me,,after reading the nutritinal label,,it's alot easier to realize if something isnt' good for me.

For me,,,,losing weight isn't about the band as much as it is about my "HEAD". If nothing changes,,,nothing changes. Old habits had to change,,old crazy thinking had to change. I've wasted too many years being morbidly obese and miserable. I want to look forward to my new life with great expectation!!!!!!

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

      Woohoo! I have 7 more days till surgery, So far I am already down a total of 20lbs since I started this journey.
