4 months 90 pounds!

Recommended Posts

I am so happy I decided to have the sleeve. I just got so tired of being fat. I say fat, because I was. I'm still on my journey to a better and brighter future. I'm the type of person who believes, if something can go wrong with me, it will go wrong. I was so nervous going in to surgery. What if I die? What if I get a serious infection? What if I quit breathing? I decided to start praying and quit worrying! Thankfully, I have been the model patient so far for the sleeve. I have not had one complication! I have strictly followed my Drs orders. I'm experiencing a lot of different reactions from family and friends. My mom and sister are trying to force feed me. They think I'm not eating enough, which in fact I get in at least 65 g of Protein plus my 64 ounces of Water everyday! My friends look at me weird when I eat a few bites, and I'm full. But everyone still supports me. I have such a good sense of humor, I make light out of their worries about me. They are more afraid of this lifestyle change than I am. I still have a long way to go, but I'm loving life more and more everyday! Oh and I'm not a bit scared to stand on a scale! Bc I know I will never be at my heaviest EVER AGAIN!! I had surgery October 30, 2013. So I'm not quite 4 months yet, but close enough! 90 pounds down and I couldn't be any more proud of myself!

Its such a great feeling to get on the scale and never see it go up. After many frustrating years of yo-yo weight it actually feels great to get on scale. Keep up good work. I'm 3mo out down 70lbs 3pant sizes 20 to 14 and 3 shirt sizes 3xl to xl :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
