wazza698 0 Posted February 18, 2014 I am nearly two weeks post op and in pain as am chronically constipated (tmi but need advice) I have been to my post op nurse visit and she told me to take Acolax and nothing has happened yet! Just lots of excruciating pain I have never had this problem prior to my surgery Has anyone else suffered this and how did you overcome it? I am starting to get really worried Thank you
Carlotta1 401 Posted February 18, 2014 I used a suppository when I was so constipated. It worked but boy did it hurt when I had the bm . I see people using Miralax on occasions and stool softeners on a reg basis.
Torias mom 14 Posted February 18, 2014 I haven't had surgery yet, but I hear people recommend Milk of Magnesia. Maybe you can check to see if you can take this? Good luck!
gohelpyourself 377 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) I have posted this suggestion in several threads. I cannot stress enough how AWESOME Organic Hemp Protein Hi-Fiber powder is. Everyone keeps suggesting drugs. This is all natural. One of THE best plant Proteins out there. Put it in your shakes. Three tablespoons is all you need. I put it in my first shake of the day. Been regular ever since and it is not painful cramping like what Milk of Mag or Mag Citrate, Dulcolax or any of those other drugs cause. I bought it at Wegmans Grocery store in health food section. Check out the website www.Nutiva.com Good luck. Edited February 18, 2014 by Belladonna723
FitnFabfor2014 358 Posted February 18, 2014 I never had issues with Constipation until I had this surgery. It was so bad I had to resort to labor breathing to pass it, and it HURT like HELL!!! I took Milk of Magnesium and Optifiber (from Costco), but it didn't make passing it any easier. So from now on I take Fiber with my shakes to keep regular. I never want to go through that again. I hope you are able to pass it soon. I've felt your pain! I've read from a few people on here they had to go to the doctor to "assist" with the passing. April36456 1 Posted February 18, 2014 I am 2 months post op. It took almost 3 weeks after surgery before I had my first bm. Very painful. I used stool softeners and miralax. Since then I may have a bm every 7 to 10 days. Had surgery Dec. 5, 2013, and I am down 55lbs to date. The first few weeks are the hardest... But it does get easier
