NJVSTuser 32 Posted March 17, 2014 Nope no dry heaves. Stomach does still complain very hard when I try to eat too much. Managing to eat more at 10 months out but all depends how dense the food is so sometimes tough to judge but so far no reversals of fortune. Key is to not try and go past that first message especially early on. Know it is hard to leave food on the plate but often that is the best course of action. My NUT basic message is soon as you are feeling full stop eating. Have learnt that is a message best listen to. Take care and trust you are making the right choice in the long run. DBubba 3 Posted June 16, 2014 Do you guys do physical activities for extended periods of time post sleeve? If so how are your energy levels? Are you able to get enough food in? Yes absolutely, I snow ski, ride my Sea Doo, Mow my 2 acres, ride my bike for up to 2 hours without any problems. If I know I will be out for more than 4 hours and I want to eat right I will take some berries, a Protein Bar, and plenty of Water or sports drink. You will need to make sure you have nutritious balanced meals when you have them. Fast food doesn't cut it . I assure you without carrying around the 50-200 extra lbs around you will will have MUCH more energy and stamina, I know I sure do!

I get why there's a perception that the sleeve effectively limits the "fuel tank" and therefore will limit activity. But, that just isn't how it works. I lost 70+ pounds with the sleeve. It's true that I cannot have a giant Breakfast to "fuel up" for some activity. However, now I can do that activity without a 70 pound weight on my back. And while it was impossible to lighten the load before, it's pretty easy to bring a Quest Bar or some almonds to get a little energy when needed.
VPenn 21 Posted August 7, 2014 Hmm, regrets, let me think...NOT A FRIGGIN' ONE! This has been the best decision of my life. For me the surgery was/is a tool to help me maintain my weight loss and healthy lifestyle. Between 2005 and 2013 I lost/gained over 50 pounds 4x, but there was always some life or physical event that derailed me. Now, being a high achiever, I wasn't one to just fall off the wagon. I had to fall off, get caught up in the axle and drag for a mile or two. The wrecks were spectacular! I have both the confidence and faith now that the VSG will enable me to weather those storms and get to where I need to be with my health. Gone is the ability to say "screw it, let's hit the buffet" without painful consequences, and I'm happy for that. It's exactly what I needed. I'm just sorry that it took me so long to come to the realization that surgery was the right move for me. 3 Recycled, BryBro63 and VSGAnn2014 reacted to this
BryBro63 410 Posted August 8, 2014 I finally thought of a regret I have about the surgery...I wish I had gotten it done SOONER!!! If I did, I'd probably be at my goal weight now!!! This has been the coolest life-changer I could have ever done, and I'm not really sure why they say that men have such strong reservations about having the surgery. It sure has saved my life, and made things much, much better!!! Life is good....energy is good...health is good...sex is BETTER...even style of clothing is better, since I'm not as limited since I no longer have to go for the bigger sizes!!! This is good!!!! 1 VPenn reacted to this
Rovobay 920 Posted August 23, 2014 reading this gets me so pumped up for my big day, just 18 days away!!! I am sure my only regret will be not having done it sooner. I am ready for my old active lifestyle back. tired of being lethargic and lazy..... recently joined a gym and have been hitting it hard. my body aches afterwards. no pain, no gain. this site gets me jacked. congrats to all of you who have kicked some serious ass. I can't wait to join you.
vincereautmori 323 Posted August 30, 2014 I did my research, spoke personally with other WLS paitients, asked all kind of questions on these boards, had discussions with doctors, then made my decision. Once I made it, there was no looking back, I trusted the surgery, trusted the doctors, knew what I was in for, ready to make a big and permanent change. By the day of surgery, no regrets, no hesitation, no doubts, I just took the leap and fell into the process. I kind of liked to equate it to skydiving for the first time, you learn the science, trust your instructors, stand on the edge, then jump- there's no turning back and you either suceed or it's going to be real bad. chris73 38 Posted August 31, 2014 Guy's do any of you regret your decision to get the sleeve. I'm scheduled to get surgery on Friday and having second thoughts. I was scared right up to waking up yesterday morning - after surgery. My thought was die early or get the weight off. After it's just about healing and starting a new life! Good luck! NJVSTuser 32 Posted August 31, 2014 Chris73, glad you have started the journey, and good luck to you going forward. The healing process for my stomach took a while but now I can eat most things. For sure it feels like a new life to me. I have so much more stamina. Just got back from a vacation in Colorado and two years ago before surgery I could not do any exercise at 12,000ft without not being able to breathe, now I was almost keeping up with my 22 year old son on hikes up the mountains at that height. It was one of my biggest accomplishments so far since the weight loss. I was worried it was just how I was built but tuned out it was just the weight holding me back. chris73 38 Posted August 31, 2014 Thanks for the encouragement. The only things bugging me right now are my teeth being super sensitive and skin getting dry Patches
Camarolegend 185 Posted September 22, 2014 Are those new issues?
chris73 38 Posted September 22, 2014 They lasted about a week. I'm all good now, down about 25lbs. I think the teeth thing was the anasthesia
