Has anyone heard of the "3 week stall"? I am 3 weeks out and have stalled on my weight loss. I mentioned this on a Myfitnesspal forum and someone said that a 3 week stall is common. She also said I should be able to find lots of info online about it. I've come up with zilch. So I'm asking fellow bandsters what's the word???

I haven't heard of it either, but I do know a weight loss journey will have many stalls along the way. Keep doing everything right ( healthy food choices & exercise) and you will begin the losing process again. I've read that some people think that a stall is just your body adjusting to a new weight...... You know, giving your body a chance to catch up with the weight loss.

Oh my what a coincidence!!! I have been the sane weight for 3 weeks and was thinking when will this end! I am 4 months post op so I guess it can happen anytime. I have a fitbit and just keep walking, eating good and hopefully bit will start again. I was to he a onesie by the time I hit 50. So that is 24 pounds and 2 1/2 months!!! Not so sure it will happen but will keep trying.

I've heard of this, 2 to 3 Weeks out, or around 30/40 pounds. its just ur body adjusting, same as any plateau, just stick with ur plan and u will see results. also see ur nut, i was at a plateau when my dr suggested it, i reluctantly went to the nut, i lost 5 pounds the next week!

your body is adjusting to the weight loss you have already lost. you are now eating a little more substantially as well. so say to yourself, I will stay on course. I will eat only 1/2 to a cup of food 3 times a day. I will eat Protein first. I will drink plenty of fluids. I will be hungry. until I get my band adjusted properly I will be hungry. when I am hungry I will drink fluids, walk, exercise and bitch at us on this site so we can help you get through bandster hell. if you continue to eat healthy and add some exercise the wt. will continue to come off. measure yourself. inches maybe disappearing as we speak. so good luck. and it sounds like you are running a normal time for the different phases we go through. good luck.

My scale was stuck for about 3 weeks too. I think mine was close to / around the 6 week post op visit. The scale will budge again. I suggest to measure yourself to see if you're loosing inches instead of pounds.

2-4 week stalls are very common. I always hit them when I dieted years ago. Here's a scientific reason why this happens:

You all seriously need to quit weighing yourselves. I went a whole year and lost nothing, nada, and I never gave up. Stop weighing yourselves every single day or you will drive yourself insane.

I was at a serious stall, early on,.....then I got rid of My FitnessPal and started loosing consistently after that.....followed my band instead.

just my opinion, I do not have much faith in those apps, at least not for people with WLS....it's probably good for people long to follow traditional diets....I guess.....butt we are a different breed...traditional diets and such did not work for us before....

At lest that is my experience....I'm sure other people swear by them....

Thanks everyone for the input. I especially loved your comment TERRI-D. Made me laugh. It's just nice to know what's normal and when I should talk to the surg about adjustments.

When you hit a "STALL" it may just be a matter of changing your exercise routine...adding an activity that your body is not used to...and hide the scales...

especially if you are stressing out. Take other measurements of you success - smaller clothes, more energy, less medication, etc... AND ABOVE ALL..don't compare your weight loss to anyone else...Just because two people have WLS at the same time, does not they are going to show the same weight loss 3, 6 or 12 months later..

This is exactly what is happening to me. I am following the meal plan, exercising every day and that pesky scale went up 1.5 lbs. My stubborn body is also keeping every last drop of Water I am pouring into it. 10 glasses of Water in, very little coming out.

I need patience, just a little. anyone got some they can send my way? LOL :D

Going through the same thing as well. Nice to know we are together in this. Don't get discouraged, follow Dr. orders and watch for losses with tape measure. I know I have morphed dramatically in face and legs since my procedure on Jan.22,2014. Waiting on 1st fill to start really learning how to use this band to help me.

Sorry, about second pic. Was supposed to be my face before vs. 1 month after. Can't figure out how to get the other off. I had 2 incisions that just got horribly inflamed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
