When I'm full, I feel a sharp pain in left chest/shoulder area when I breathe.

Recommended Posts

I'm over a month post-sleeve, and I get a distinct pain when I take a deep breath after I've eaten to the point of feeling full. I'm trying to learn not to push it to that point....but having just started eating some normal foods again, I am learning all over again how to read my own fullness signs. Frustrating. I think it's gas....because after a few burps (they are hard to get out!), I'm feeling MUCH better. An hour later, a million bucks. Two hours later, could eat all over again. Test driving this new tiny tummy....loving it; just confused about the pain when I breathe after a full (little) belly. Fills up so dang fast!!! I just get started eating and I'm already done. Lol

has anyone else experienced this type of feeling after eating until you are full?

I too am 5 weeks post-op but I actually start to burp when I'm full but it's more of an internal burp as opposed to an external burp. I read that it's gas and we should take antacids throughout the day. I was out of town this past weekend and didn't take my Protein shakes (can't deal with the ready made ones) so it was well after noon yesterday when I decided to eat something. I bought a fried chicken breast for the Protein and was going to pull all the skin off and only eat the white meat. I pulled one chunk of white meat off and it was succulent and juicy and that little chunk was all I could manage to eat. Didn't have anything else to go with it either. I couldn't believe it! As badly as I wanted to eat more, there wasn't any room.

That is very common, usually associated with gas...so walk!!! That will help a LOT... if it continues, you always want to check with your dr...he may let you have gas-x or something...

Panties is right. It's gas and you need to walk walk walk after meals. You'll also get used to figuring out when to stop so it happens less.

I still have to walk after meals. I don't have sharp pain, but I'm uncomfortable and a good walk always makes me feel better.

Oh, and I used GasX strips - huge help early on.
