Recommended Posts

Ok so my surgery is Feb. 28th I started my pre-op diet on the 12th.. well.. guess what I received on the 14th... chocolate covered strawberries and an Ice cream cake from my husband.. WTH!!! I was so upset.. I love chocolate and ice cream..that is why I need this surgery!!! LOL. When I complained to my mother about this she said "just eat them and drink lots of water".. LOL!! "don't make him feel bad" Huh???.. So I ate 6 of them and a piece of cake... I gained back the 1.5 lbs I lost.. I feel aweful.. What ever happened to jewelry for valentines day or a Coach purse my faves??? This is the first year he has bought me food. Oh yeah He told me "that we can change our minds about the surgery.. Our minds!! HuH! This is totally my decision and I want this.. I think he is afraid. Sabotager!!! LOL!!

Your husband's present might be considered as a sort of pre-band test ?

because the band doesn't prevent us from eating most sweets.

Giving them up is our choice..

Ok this is your official do-over! Put it behind you and start fresh!

Dr. Smith explained the importance of the preop diet saying it would be like trying to perform the surgery with a watermelon (your liver) sitting on top of your stomach. We definitely don't want any issues during the procedure! Let's do all we can do make the process easier. The good thing is your only Two days out

While my husband is very loving and supportive, there are times when he's pretty clueless and may even be sabotaging a bit without realizing it. This probably comes from all of the ups an downs of my dieting over the last twenty years and his not really knowing what to do. Am I on or am I off? Am I doing dairy? Wheat? Drinking or not drinking? Etc. In every diet there would come a time when I wasn't doing it anymore and he always wanted to be supportive then as well. We have a new mode now but it took a little trial and error. I have to be clear on what is in the house and what might still present a dilemma for me. I know that my husband wants to let me know that he loves me no matter what and yours is probably the same -- plus they don't want us to drop a lot of weight and run off with the postman. Okay, bad example. No one would run off with our postmen, that's for sure. Good luck with the rest of your pre-op -- you are clearing out the old and getting ready for a brand new life! Best wishes to you -- and he'll get it. Eventually.

Thanks Ladies... I feel aweful I ate that ..however.. I told my Bff to come and pick up the cake, which she did thank god.. I didn't want it go to waist my waist ..LOL... I started fresh Saturday morning and I have been on the straight and narrow for 2 days. He is supportive and I am sure he only thought of my love for these foods and how much I will miss them ,I don't think he realized how important the pre op diet is... I have since explained this..however today he wanted to order a pizza.. LOL... He said " OH I FORGOT U CAN'T EAT THAT".. Then he went to Mc Donalds .. He asked if I wanted a salad ... OMG!!!! Those fries smelled great however I am eating tilapia instead.. Yay for me.. Bandista u are so funny.." the postman" LOL...

During my pre-op diet, I used to visualize a filter--because the liver is a filter. So during the pre-op diet we are cleaning the filter. And yes it's hard to clean the filter, so after the band, try to keep it clean! LOL

You might want to consider taking your husband for a visit with your nutritionist and one with your doctor. your husband loves you but has no clue what you are preparing for. he needs to hear it from someone other than you. it really helped when I let my husband come for the initial doctor appointment and for a seminar. It is your job as well as everything else you have to do, is to educate your husband. good luck. I would have been so mad at mine if he brought home mcdonalds French fries. I can smell them now

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
