Well just got back from my second fill, up to 4.25, and I am so glad too, it seemed like just a couple days after my first fill last month that all of a sudden I had no restriction at all! I found myself eating bigger quantities and took longer before my band would tell me , ok I'm full now! It was a little scary, almost was afraid to get weighed at the doctor today! I did lose but not as much as I wanted too , only 4# this month but the good news from my blood work was totally amazing! I get to cut my Metformin down to half of a dose, cause my A1C was down and my cholesterol #'s were awesome, the bad was down and the good was up! YAY, that's what I'm talking about! For me this journey isn't just about getting the FAT off but getting HEALTHY and getting off all these blooming medications! So now I'll work harder this month on the weight, the sun is coming back out and old man winter is about to say farewell, so outside I will be! Think I'm going to go Celebrate my numbers and go buy me a real bike!

You're not supposed to wait until your band tells you that you are full enough. Being full should never happen now. Measure one cup of food with most being Protein and that is all you should be eating. The band is simply there to keep you from being hungry not to stop you from over eating.

Awesome work, fruit Loop! I felt the same way after my first fill. Especially at night. I'm wondering when my surgeon is gonna do my labs again so I can start weaning off of my Metformin too.

Keep doing what you're doing!

Cheryl2586, yes that's what I do pretty much, I put my portion of a cup on my plate and hardly ever get that much down before my band would tell thats enough but the last few weeks it hasn't worked like that. I would eat it all and say okay what happened, but I wouldn't eat any more either.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
