When is it safe to sleep on your side? i was wondering when everyone was ready to sleep in their side? I'm one week post op and still can't be on my side for more than 15 minutes.

I was able to sleep on my side the first night home. It hurt to turn over on my side, but once i was there it was okay.

Thanks for posting this...I'm 2 weeks post-op and still cannot comfortably sleep on my side (either one). I have been wondering the exact same thing. I am a major side sleeper and so staying on my back makes for a pretty crumby night's sleep.

I'll be interested to see what others say who are further out.

Fairly quickly, but it did hurt getting there for a week or so. I used pillows on either side of me. It gave me a soft place to lean. It really helped me.

I was able (and advised by the nurses in the hospital) to sleep on my side on the first night.. sleeping on my back was uncomfortable.

I used pillows after about a week when I slept on my side.

I used a pillow on either side of me to have a soft prop. I did that for about 4 nights, then had no issues.

I pretty much had to the first night.. I wasn't getting enough oxygen on my back (I assume from apnea). It was hard to get into that position, but boy was it worth it as I didn't have anyone waking me up and telling me to breathe!

Just saw this after I posted my question about sleeping on my stomach. Good luck, I still haven't a good nights sleep since I have been sleeved.

When I asked in the hospital they said side sleeping would be okay, but try to do that with a drain and IV. Not successful. Once home and not hooked up I've been able to side sleep each night, but do hug onto a king size pillow. The only discomfort is when shifting from side to side.

When I had surgery I was only comfortable on my side the night after surgery as well. I invested in a body pillow when I got home because I also sleep on my belly and the body pillow helps a lot to make it comfy and also get a better nights sleep.

My answer to that is when it's not pain full. I am 13 days post - op and I still can't turn over to my side I tried pillows, but it's just not going to happen for me. :)

It took me 4 1/2 weeks to sleep on my side. I think it might also depend in whether you have a tethering stitch or not. I could not sleep on my side until the stitch popped.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
