I found a book on Amazon that I wish I would have found before my sleeve. But it is also very helpful during and after. I hit a plateau at 220 lbs for about 5 weeks and try as I could was unable to break it. I needed to get past the plateau for my self and for my son. His kidney transplant is pending on it. I bought this book "The Big Book on the Gastric Sleeve" by Alex Brecher and Natalie Stein. I got the book about a week and a half ago. Since my surgery is already about 6 1/2 months out I kind of skimmed through it for what I needed. I landed on Chapters 14 & 15. Read every thing though and took notes and decided to revamp what I was currently doing. As of this morning I weighed in at 214. So the little change ups that I made seem to be working. I am going to continue to do what I have this past week. Hopefully the weight will continue to drop going forward.

I downloaded it on my Kindle app for my phone. Great stuff in there and it kept me busy while I was in the hospital.

My friend has also recommended that book...it is by the founder of this website (Alex)!

She has found it helped her get over a plateau she has been struggling with for awhile now

I was born and raised in Chicago and lived in Streamwood before moving down south...very familiar with Oak Park!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
