So I get discouraged all the time because ive lost 45 lbs and I feel like you cant even tell that ive lost the weight. Yes the major reason I got the surgery was to get healthy but lets all face it, we wanna look better too. Anyways last week I had my favorite pair of jeans on and the button popped off when I was adjusting and I had no other cleann jeans so I found a pair of jeans that I had put away before my surgery because they were extremely tight, well I put them on and they were so big I couldnt even wear then!! Seeing that made me so happy! Then today I was in the bathroom and my grandparents have one of those scales that only goes to a certain weight and I haven't been able to step on that scale in I dont remember how long and it didnt say error for the first time!! I was so ecstatic I started crying! So all I wanted to say is its the little things that matter. Those little things are what keeps me motivated to keep making the right choices!

So happy for you! The jeans say it all, don't they? And I love it about your grandparent's scale -- I can picture that.

Congrats on a great weight loss so far....remember that sometimes, (most times for me), I dont "see" the weight loss on myself...so be kind to yourself...if you are having success and seeing it in ways like the scale not reading error and your super loose jeans than hang on to those things and enjoy every minute of the success.

Sometimes it takes our own eyes and brains WAY more time to catch up to the way we really look.

Keep moving forward --you are doing amazing!!!1

I'll take loose fitting clothes any day over a number on a scale...... Only took me 53 years to learn that! And BTW, I still have a distorted body image when looking at myself through the mirror. When I was 327 pounds, I didn't seen myself as that fat. Now that I've lost a substantial amount of weight, I see only fat..... But, I do notice the difference when I look at pictures of myself..... Weird, huh?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
