So I haven't tested it yet, but maybe my surgeon didn't remove enough belly because I am not having any trouble swallowing fluids and I don't have that overly full feeling I expected. Could I have has a surgeon that didn't do the work? Anyone else feeling like their belly hasn't changed?

I'm having no trouble with liquids either. But I've read that isn't abnormal with liquids. True test is denser food.

i am almost 4 weeks PO and have never had issues swallowing and still dont feel full or hungry for that matter. I kind of make myself have someing to "eat" but if im busy i could forget to eat all day! I asked about this before too and was told that when I starting real food and being more normal that those feelins will come back. So maybe your are not weird lol... or maybe we both are!

good luck!!

Not sure when you had surgery but when you eat dense Protein, chicken, etc... you will feel the restriction. Liquids don't usually do that. Good luck!

or maybe we both are! :D

nhaze101 and icoll

i think you both are weird

only kidding guys :)

i have heard others on the board being "concerned, worried" surgeon didn't take out enough of tummy

i doubt that happened to you or anyone

but i do understand you being scared

things will work out, and you'll realize you are "missing" 85% of your tummy

when you are only drinking - you don't feel any restriction

not having trouble drinking, - thats great!!!! :)

many people do have problems holding liquids down :(

many many many others (like me) never had an issue :)

don't go looking for trouble by saying "hmmmm, why am i ok drinking lots"? be happy :)

as far as not feeling restriction.............

you will get that restricted feeling once you start eating solids :)

continued luck to both of you :)

Your not weird. I felt the same way and now at 8 weeks post op..still do. I am on solid, normal food. Thus far, I have been able to tolerate every new food I try, including dense foods.

95% of the time I measure my food but feel as if I could eat more once finished. But I don't because I am definitely satisfied with far less than before surgery.

In restaurants, I used to almost always finish the plate even after appetizers and still found room for dessert. Now one course only and the leftovers provide at least two additional meals.

So I have to try and feel comfortable that it is all good and be grateful that I tolerate so well.

Not gonna lie though....I have been tempted by certain high carb food to push the limits to make sure my body reacts...I was banking on that to be my tool for continued success when the novelty might wear off. I haven't done it yet but I would like to know that any kin dove over-indulgence or overeating would result in sickness.

I never felt full until I started getting real food. Truth be told, I still don't really get full.. that is, feeling full has changed. It's not the same feeling, now it just kind of hurts in my esophagus when I eat too much vs feeling full in my stomach. It's definitely a learning curve :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
