Don't spend your time about "how fast" ...think about how u are making progress towards up your healthily weight goal and after that maintaining your weight loss the rest of your life.. This is not a race to the finish line..but a journey that will last a lifetime to bring healthily and full of energy. I am not dropping weight by the loads.. As a matter fact I prefer not to lose too quickly so that my body can adjust at a new weight. And i think it will also help to keep the weight off since we had more time to make lifestyle changes...

Another key to your success is consistent exercising. Not leisure walking but putting it into gear to get your body healthier..cardio and strength. I started exercising 6 weeks after I had my surgery and it really helped with dropping more pounds. I was at a stall and the exercise helped with that.

So my message to you is be happy what u have accomplished. And more is to come, in time. :)

308 - now 256. disappointed I'm not losing faster. what am i doing wrong

bosslady14

i doubt you are doing anything wrong

u look B) like a smart cookie :)

i bet you are following all the rules

watching your calories, carbs

eating slowly, measuring

protein first

not drinking about 1/2 hr before meal

not drinking w/meals

not drinking for up to 1 hr after you eat

drinking at least 64 oz

the only thing we have in common is that we're all different!!!!!

people lose different amounts of weight in all types of time periods

weird things can happen when "we" get discouraged (eating)

Knock it Off!!

you are doing great

52 lbs - down, down, and down, FLUSH ;)

keep up the good job

"God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It" ;)

kathy

congrats

50 lbs in 5 months. That will be 100 lbs in 10 months. I would say that is FANTASTIC!!!

Hi BossLady14... I think that is phenomenal weight loss - oh how I wish I was losing 10lbs a month... i'm more at 7 lbs per month and I'm just about at my 4 month bandiversary. Be careful here because the "experts" will start lecturing - but to bring it all into light and from someone who really knows how disappointing it is to get on the scale - it DOES take a long time! But any pound lost is something to be excited about, sure it would be fantastic to blink and 10 lbs lost in a week. That just is NOT reality and blah blah blah - I understand the disappointment - so I just want to give you a wink and say I completely UNDERSTAND!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
