nsabino 26 Posted February 16, 2014 I today is day 3(of 10) of my pre-op liver reduction diet. Day. 1 was a Valentines day "sweets" day at work. I managed just fine. Day 2 we came out to my in-laws in another town to spend the night. They are Italian and every single conversation is about food. It was a hard day, but again, I managed. I am laying in bed right now on the morning if day 3 and all I can smell is the damn bacon cooking downstairs! Come on people.... Really??? I can do this. I will do this. 4 Dee_1111, LindafromFlorida, Bandista and 1 other reacted to this
kimk1999 450 Posted February 16, 2014 Hard to believe it, but it will get easier. What does your pre-op diet consist of?
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted February 16, 2014 Yes, you will! It's worth it, I promise. From 264 to 157, a size 20 to a size 8, from morbidly obese to athletically slender... Yeah, it's worth it. 7 Bandista, Cookiesgotthis, naenaern777 and 4 others reacted to this
nsabino 26 Posted February 16, 2014 Hard to believe it, but it will get easier. What does your pre-op diet consist of? I am allowed 4 Protein shakes, sf Jello, sf Popsicles, broth, Clear liquids and 1/2 cup of non starchy veggies every day. And that is the thing. I am NOT hungry, but who waves bacon in front of someone?!?!? It's not the fact that I am hungry, it's the fact that if I wanted to eat something I can't. I am really proud of myself though. My mother in law is a great cook, and I have not even thought about cheating. 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this

Beach Lover 1,084 Posted February 16, 2014 You can do it!! This is what I called the practice run for after the surgery. It strengthens you and gives you a good picture of your post op recovery time. You absolutely do get stronger in your resolve but it is tough in the beginning. Once that weight starts dropping you get stronger and stronger and the anguish drops off. It does creep up every once in awhile but your inner resolve will stop it down. Best of wishes to you!! 1 Bandista reacted to this
HealthyNewMe 1,935 Posted February 16, 2014 Thing is, you'll never find a two week period where you won't have food waved in your face..... My two weeks was late last May during my son's graduation. I sat through three separate meals out at some of my favorite restaurants. Then, we attended several different parties, all centered around food. To top it off, my husband and I threw a crawfish boil at our house with 200 pounds of crawfish and a cake from our favorite bakery. I stuck to my mantra (that I've used for other difficult situations in my life)..... My mantra is..... I CAN DO ANYTHING FOR TWO WEEKS! And I did! You will too! 1 Bandista reacted to this
B-52 7,113 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) My Dr. did not care what I ate. or what diet I followed.... He simply said "You will loose X # of lbs by such and such a date, or no surgery" My surgery was a Monday early morning, had my final weight in on the Friday before.... Having said that, if one wants to loose the most amount of weight in the least amount of time, then it would be the straight full liquid (shakes) routine....and the nut gave me all the resources as to where to buy the product, etc......which I did because it made the most sense...but if I strayed, I don't think I would have been struck down by lightning....just so I lost the needed weight, or else! But...Bottom Line...follow your Dr.'s instructions whatever they may be....don't want to blow it now.... deaddemmama 474 Posted February 19, 2014 You got this. One thing that helped me was to keep a shake to sip throughout the day rather than just drinking them as meals..made me feel less deprived.
