JillC878 59 Posted February 16, 2014 Hi everyone! I have a concern and it could be completely crazy, but I am not sure. I thought it best that I ask before I go off the deep end with worry. OK, I will be post-op 4 weeks tomorrow I have lost just about 20 lbs since the day of the surgery. Last week I only lost 1 lb. and this week 1.8 lb. I have read that there is a plateau around week 3 and maybe that is what is going on. I guess what I want to know is how much weight should I be loosing? What is a normal amount to have lost by now? Is 2 lbs a weeks normal? Don't get me wrong, 20 lbs in a month is great, but I was expecting more by now. Part of that is because I did not really know what to expect in terms of numbers. I don't want to become obsessive with trying to move the number is things are normal. I also don't want to keep feeling as defeated as I do right now. I keep thinking that this is going to be like everything else and not work. I am terrified of that. If this is not normal, any advice on what I need to do to fix it? Do I need to contact my surgeon? Please don't judge me. I just need some encouragement and guidance. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me!
Sherry73 94 Posted February 16, 2014 I lost 36 pounds the first three weeks and then went into a three week stall. During that time I did not lose any weight. I am 3 1/2 months out now and down over 70 pounds in total. So yes what you are going through is normal. I started loosing again when I was able to get in more Water and Protein. I also was very frustrated and thought that the surgery was not going to work. I just got on here and read about other people and that the 3 week stall was very common. Some weeks I will loose 1 pound and then another week it could be up to 5 pounds. Hope this helps.
Babypee49 0 Posted February 16, 2014 Im 5 weeks out and going through the same thing so don't worry, I was feeling the same way you were feeling until I talked to a couple of people who went through the same, just check to make sure you are getting the right amount of calories and fluids.
