I can paint my toe nails without panting; I can shovel snow without fear of a heart attack; I can sit in a booth without discomfort; I don't need to eat before I eat publicly; I care more about me than I do french fries; I can shave my legs in like five minutes instead of fifteen, I don't run into things all the time; I don't feel like I'm taking up more than my share of space anymore; I am already (6 months) so damn grateful! Fellow post-ops, please share your gratitudes!

I'm so grateful as well & painting my own toes has never felt or looked so good! The main thing that I'm most grateful for is being able to keep up with my amazing athletic husband & very energetic little girl... So happy & very grateful for my sleeve! Great post!

What a great post. I have not had surgery yet. But, I have experienced everything that you mentioned.

And am looking forward to being thankful as well.. 3 more weeks :)

I am grateful for being able to almost run up the stairs, and no panting at all. For being able to wear nicer clothes and smaller sizes mean being able to shop in more of the mainstream stores.

I am grateful for so many things:

- Crossing my legs easily

- Unsubscribing Lane Bryant emails

- Skinny jeans that are baggy

- Shoveling snow without sweating

I am grateful to no longer get winded going up a flight of stairs, to have space on each side of the seat on an airplane, to be physically fit, to no longer have people give me an extra wide berth when walking down an aisle, to only have one chin, to weigh less than my DH, to be a size 6. Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
