Pre Op Hospital List

Recommended Posts

Hi all

22/04/14 is operation band day

I know I'll be there 2 nights. I'm worried I won't take something that will make the after op easier. Please let me know things you took and the things you wish you took

Chapstick and comfy PJ pants to come home in. Other than that, you really don't need anything. There just isn't time for anything else!

I have a bad back and meant to bring my hot water bottle , but left it at home a lot of people like heating pads for back or stomach and some sweats or something loose fitting , I did bring a little pillow for the ride home so the seat belt wouldn't touch stomach , extra under wear, and people are saying gas x strips , make sure and ask for pain meds if needed and sandalls or slip on shoes , well that's all I can think of right now you type in what to bring for Lap band surgery , there is a list that is helpful , well good luck on your journey.

I wanted a room fan. I sleep with one at home, ever since I worked the graveyard shift. it helped with noise in the day so I am used to it. the hospital had one but it cost me plenty. I wish I had brought my own crystal light. I was in hospital 2 days also. they had one flavor of crystal lite. and a pillow for the ride home would have been lovely. I live 2 hours away from hospital and I came home during rush hour traffic. so my next suggestion is try and time your discharge so you don't have to sit in traffic. make sure you have Water for the ride home too. you will be thirsty. good luck swift recovery

If you like it dark and quiet for resting, consider ear plugs and/or an eye mask. As I was laying there in my (shared) room trying to take a nap the sun coming in the window was blinding. I had the nurses close the curtains but sun still seeped through. Was wishing for an eye ask at that moment so I could have darkness.

Bring a extra pillow for the ride home, phone charger, things to keep you entertain I brought my nook, my Nintendo DS, and a crossword puzzle. If you can wear buttoned up or zipped up hoodie. I wish I did because it was painful changing clothes. Good luck to you

I was happy for my flip-flops and a lightweight robe to slip on -- I started walking as soon as I could and got a lot of mileage in on those hallways. I'm a tea drinker and was glad for my own teabags -- wished I had a real cup as styrofoam is icky. Did not write in the journal I brought or read the book, etc., but I did appreciate the eye mask so I could get little naps in while shaking off the anesthesia. I had never been an overnight patient in a hospital before and it was all so much easier and more pleasant than I thought it would be. The pillow for the ride home gave me something to nap with. All in all it was all so exciting that I didn't mind the discomfort of laparoscopic surgery or the gas pains which I didn't really get until a few days later (left shoulder). So much better than the dentist, for example! And all for a purpose -- life-changing future-enhancing health! Good luck to you and keep us posted. I was really glad I started to walk before the surgery -- didn't want to but forced myself and this gave me something to step into afterwards and helped the healing process a lot.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
