Any vegetarian breakfast ideas?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I am 6 months post sleeve. I have been having Protein Shakes for Breakfast since I was sleeved, but my dr isn't a fan of shakes and wants me to try to eat real food. He also believes in low carb and no white stuff. I get sick of eggs quickly. And while my sleeve and I are getting along fairly well she gets a little testy in the morning so I can't eat anything too heavy. Also my dr doesn't want me to eat anything mushy like oatmeal or yogurt. Anyone have any ideas? I am nut-less because the one I had was useless. Thanks.

I'm confused - the topic was for vegetarian breakfast ideas but you mention eggs. So I'm not sure what restrictions you have with your vegetarianism.

I've been doing a lot of different egg muffin tin recipes. Basically it's scrambled eggs but in a muffin tin that you can make ahead of time. Dice up onions and pepper and mix that with eggs. What do you eat for lunch or dinner? You could eat those items for breakfast too.

I'm just a regular vegetarian. I eat dairy and eggs but not meat fish or chicken. I've made the eggs in a muffin tin, they are very yummy! I can only take one day of eggs before the sight of them makes me sick.

I have had homemade shakes for 3 years...always coming up with different recipes...

But to answer your question, since you eat eggs and dairy products, how about Quiche? All different varieties....

I'm two months out and still sticking with various muffin recipes...

What about yogurt?

As b-52 suggested different homemade shakes.< /p>

How about cottage cheese and/or Greek yogurt?

Cottage cheese is generally very filling so it can stick with you. I also like veggie breakfast sausage.

What about homemade cereal/granola bars, with added Protein powder to make them more Protein dense? I'm going to make some this weekend...I've been searching for something portable I can bring in and eat at work since I can't down anything solid at a normal breakfast time but my NUT is strict about banded patients eating at designated times.

Do you like Lentils? I like the black ones or French lentils better than the orange but they are all yummy. Sauté an onion if you like, and/or diced celery, bits of carrot, add spices, like a curry powder or just cumin, and if you like a few raisins and even nuts. Stir around then add rinsed lentils, keep sautéing so they pick up all that flavor, then add veggie stock or Water to cover, let it come to quick boil then turn all the way down, put a lid on and they will be done in no time.

Quinoa with chunks of apple or pear? If you cook in veggie stock you'll have that extra flavor. Has excellent Protein for a grain.

Baked egg dishes are great - and you can do them in muffin tins for smaller portions sizes. You can also add any veggies and cheese you want.

Juevos Rancheros are awesome - I take about 1/4 c of black Beans (canned - I rinse and drain them to get off a lot of the goop and salt) heat them up in a pan with about a tablespoon of chopped onion, a tablespoon of chopped bell pepper, and a tsp of chopped garlic (you can add some jalepeno too, if you like it!) then I crack an egg on top, turn the heat onto low, pop a lid on and cook it for about 10 minutes or so until the egg is cooked through. You can put some cheese on top too.

For a quick Breakfast, you can make homemade bars (we're working on a recipe for one that's high Protein, low carb and actually tastes good ...) or yogurt is always good too.

I'm also ovo-lacto vegetarian. Some of my frequent breakfasts are Greek yogurt, hemp hearts w/ nut butter, morningstar veg sausage patties, spinach and cheese stuffed baked Tomato, portobello with goat cheese and kale or mozz and tomato, flax & millet Lavash toast with olives and cream cheese. Lately I've been making high Protein muffins that are amazing (25 grams protein, less than 10 carbs, 423 calories) PM for recipe.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
