Hi . I have my surgery booked for March 10th.

Recommended Posts

I feel better reading all the threads and posts on this forum. I am very excited to begin this journey. I have been on this Bariatric Pal website for constantly over the last few days. My question is this. I work at a greenhouse and my job can be quite physical. I can only take the minimum amount of time off work because I am just going back to work after being off for two months during the slow season. The busy season is just around the corner. A few of the people on this site have mentioned that they don't have a great amount of energy and feel generally quite fatigued . This concerns me because I use loads of energy with my job. How long does this fatigue last? Will I be able to do my job properly? I am sorry if thus question sounds silly I was just hoping someone could enlighten me. Thank you.

I was really fatigued for the first two weeks, then it subsided. Can u tell your boss that u have yo take it easy with lifting , etc. Can u do lighter , less strenuous work when u get back to work..at least for a little while. I was told not to lift anything over 8 pounds the first month. How long do plan on taking off before u return to work.?

I plan on taking off two weeks. I will certainly be able to have lighter duty for the next month. After that it is go go go. I am glad to hear that the fatigue subsides quite quickly.

Hey LisaJ. I am a teacher in greenhouse mgt, I was only really tired and sore for 1-2 weeks...not a terrible soreness, just achey. , I couldn't lift more than 15 lb for 3 weeks per doctor. I bet you will be fine, especially of you could talk to someone and do seeding or transplanting and not so much moving large plants...

Btw There is a March Sleeve group you can join, pm me if interested.

Hi Scraglycat,

I am having a band to sleeve revision on March 3. This has been moving very quickly - just decided to have the revision about a month ago. I would really like to join the March sleeve group. Can you tell me how to do that?

Thanks

Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
