Oh, I'm going to find it very difficult to eat tuna or chicken salad alone and not on any type of bread!!! I like them both so I guess I will have to do it. After getting on to "real food" I know most people can't tolerate bread. What about eating some type of pita bread or the flat roll up bread? I also saw that someone ate stuffing, I didn't think this would be tolerable.

My 1st day on mushies and I had 1/3 C potato cheese broccoli Soup. Yum! I was so parinoid to get stuck I smushed & chewed those potatoes until they were mush!

Tonight I'm going to have smushed pinto Beans w/ some taco sauce and maybe some cheese. Real Protein will really boost my enegy level hopefully.

I'd love to see more recipies since I think we are all on mushies for at least 1-2 wks.

i love bread. if i was on a desert island with only ONE KIND OF FOOD--it would be bread===and now--i absolutely cannot eat it with the chicken salad--i am VERY restricted at the moment. and i don't MISS the bread--amazing!! you won't miss it. you'll be full and happy you can even get the chicken/tuna salad down!

good luck!!

Oh Dawn, I hear ya!! This stage is the pits. What stage are you on the mushie stage or the liquid stage? I'm on modified liquids which I guess can include watered down potatos, very similar to cream of wheat consistency. After sticking with pudding, Jello, Protein Drinks etc. the potato was scrumptious! I can't wait until the mushies!!!

WOW.....thanks for the info....I am so concerned with what goes in my nouth that it feels that sometimes nothing is going in there... my hunger isn't so bad, but my stomach begs to differ....it will just growl when ever it wants to and I don't feel hungry.

Thanks for the tips, I will start on potatoes and actually add pickles to my tuna and chicken salad. I guess I was just scared to add anything that wasn't on my list.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Berry!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
