Since surgery, I have had 3 glasses of wine and one shot of whiskey on the rocks. I was a big beer drinker before surgery.

Ty all, I was a high tolerance person, does the tolerance go down a lot? I drank all 70 to 100 proof liquor, should I get the lower proof stuff?

Ooh, I forgot that I consume cider, LL! Yep, that's another good one..

70-100 proof? Yikes.. Well, I'm a bit like LL on the cocktails/hard liquor now. I normally limit it to three-four. Any more and I become a bit sloppy and a bit forgetful. I also stumble around a bit :D

Your tolerance does go down at the start - considerably. It comes back, but not to full force. You get drunk quick, but also sober quick. Its a good thing for me.. I could drink 12 pints in 5 hours. Now it's 5 pints in 5 hours. Less calories, no hangover and still happy :)

My tolerance is down, but hey, I weigh half what I did before, so I'm not surprised. I never cared for beer. I like everything else, except margaritas. I used to love them pre-op, but now I rarely want them. I stay drunk as long as I ever did, it just takes less to get there.

lol..try to drink like that now Allb..and either ye b praying to the porceline gods, or you will wake up like me, head pounding, death knocking at my door..with my husband at the foot of the bed shaking his head!!!

I miss drinking, I really do  ...Its taken to puttin' the slamm on me, instead of the nice slow & dignified creep, so I could excuse myself AND GO HOME!!!..(sigh) Good times ^_^

I usually go for an ounce of Jack Daniels with Water over ice. Lasts me almost an hour these days. It's only 60 calories and no carbs. If I do shots it hits me hard, so I don't do those now.

My other go-to drink is a glass of red wine. That will last an hour, too. Has more calories and carbs, though.

I used to drink beer, loved a good craft beer. Can't do it now, the carbonation makes me nauseous.

My plan is for diet cranberry and vodka. Or diet lemonade and watermelon vodka. As long as vodka is somewhere in there... Lol

My tolerance never changed. I like margaritas, vodka with orange juice or cranberry juice. Martinis. Yum!

I drink beer...but not often...at a ball game or a backyard barbecue, or if a friend offers me one.... I may have as many as 3 beers at an event....(but NEVER when eating)

I am a Vodka or gin fan....Love my Bloody Mary's and will order one everywhere I go....if not then a gin and tonic....occasionally a martini on Ice.

If you're newly banded, you will not feel the effects of the carbonation and that will give you a false sense it is Ok...then as you get restriction that sense of security will turn to disaster unless you are a veteran and can feel and understand what is happening, and gauge it as you drink it...

There are a lot of things people with no restriction can do...and yet your Dr. still may prohibit it...that is because of what is yet to come....so understand the lessons early or you will become one of those who always have complaints later on...

Trust me...I've been there...

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
