WOW. You did awesome, & should not be disappointed and fustrated now. Look what you were able to accomplish before the surgery! Now, with the surgery it will further help you keep it off & still continue to lose. Remember that slow weight loss is better over all for your body & you'll probably not have as much loose skin with a slow weight loss. We just both have to keep our minds on the final goal & realize that we can acchieve it little by little, and that it will be a PERMANENT weight loss!

Hi Julie,

I'm doing OK, although I've cheated some due to head hunger. Luckily I've not cheated too much so I'm still losing weight gradually. I'm actually able to eat too much at this time, I feel, so I'm looking forward to my first fill. I see Dr. Simpson this coming Tuesday, so I really hope hid does a fill then or schedules me for one soon. I need the restriction.

I regards to the head hunger, I definitely realize it is a problem & I've purchase some books on the topic to read & hopefully help me deal with my head hunger more effectively. I am just waiting to get them via the mail. I have also been listening to Dr. Simpson's podcasts, which have been helpful. I downloaded them & made myself a CD of them to listen to in the car to reinforce my new way of life.

So, how are you doing? According the the weight you have lost, it seems to be good. Do you feel that way also? Let me know. It's nice to chat with someone else that is a patient of Dr. Simpson's.

Hi Ava! I feel good. I think I could have done better so far, but I am trying to concentrate on the future and doing better now. I think I see Dr. Simpson tomorrow also. I will have to call and check. I am pretty sure I see him this week in the afternoon.

Stick with the diet your surgeon gave you first and foremost. Are you on solids now? If so, measure your Protein out and eat that first. I have to measure mine since I have no concept of how much I am really eating if I don't.

Julie,

It was nice to meet you at Dr. Simpson's office. :) I didn't recognize you from your picture. You'll need to update it, cause your face is definitely more slim.

Candi said that she didn't recognize me from my picture either, so I guess I need to update mine also.

By the way, thanks for the good advice in your last thread. Having gotten my 1st fill today, it may make things easier...I hope.

Ewa

It was great to meet you and Candi too! How fun that we were all there at the same time. I really should update my pic. Maybe later today. Yep, yours needs updating too, your face is also slimmer. You are welcome on the advice. You are doing great though!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
