Seems like everybody else has barfed or frequently barfs if they eat something new or too much?..is my stomach just built like a Mac truck..my sleeve pretty much agrees with everything and it kinda scares me.. 2 BabySheldon and gohelpyourself reacted to this
abarta83 118 Posted February 13, 2014 I should point out that I tend not to over do it..the rare occasion that I did eat too much at once I only felt squeezing pain..for hours..
Bufflehead 6,358 Posted February 13, 2014 I don't throw up either, haven't once since surgery. I think there are lots of us out there, but people who are having issues post about them more. I saw this comparison a few days ago and I think it's apt. If you went out shopping for the day and had your purse stolen, you'd tell people about it. But if you went out all day and didn't have your purse stolen, you wouldn't run around telling people "I walked all over the city today and no one stole my purse!" I basically never threw up before surgery either, so I think I'm just lucky that way. And I also follow my surgeon's extremely stringent rules about how much to eat, and what kinds of food to eat, and how fast to progress on phases (hint - VERY slowly, like four weeks of liquids, four weeks of purees, four months of soft foods) and I think that has helped. 4 BabySheldon, BigGirlPanties, Catherine707 and 1 other reacted to this
Catherine707 253 Posted February 13, 2014 I didn't have any problems with vomiting post surgery. I have found 2 foods that upset my stomach and I wouldn't eat again: chicken and Apple sausage, and Triscitt crackers. I just avoid them and no problems. I think that following your doctors eating plan and doing things in moderation helps to ensure you don't get physically ill. I don't think it is a good idea to throw up a lot w/ the sleeve, so it sounds like you are doing exactly the right things.
McButterpants 2,846 Posted February 13, 2014 I have a sleeve of steel. The only thing that bothers my stomach is my bariatric Vitamins on an empty stomach. It bothered me at first that nothing bothered me. Does that make sense? I was scared that seemingly nothing is off limits for me. I would hear people say, "I can't eat steak, it upsets my stomach." Not mine. "I can't eat salad." No issues there either. "I can't tolerate sweets." Nope, no problems. It worried me because I wondered if I could control myself rather than my sleeve controlling what I put in my mouth. If I can eat anything, will I in fact, eat everything. The answer is no, I don't eat everything. The sleeve is doing it's job - it controls the amount of whatever food I'm eating and, for the most part, I've made good choices. I'm not eating crazy things or crazy amounts of things. So, while I used to be fearful of my sleeve of steel, right now, I'm thankful. I can enjoy all kinds of foods - while on vacation in San Fran last week I ate Chinese, Italian and a steak. I just didn't order my own entrée - my husband and I split every meal we ate out. It was wonderful and a little romantic. 3 Bufflehead, Catherine707 and BabySheldon reacted to this
Kindle 8,667 Posted February 13, 2014 I've never vomited either. Even being nauseous from being on flagyl for diarrhea. I've definitely gotten full a couple times, but I'm just super uncomfortable for hours (kinda wish I would puke). And at 8 weeks I can pretty much eat everything (just a very tiny amount). Chinese, Mexican, spicy Soups, BBQ, etc. I have never tried any bread or Pasta or sweets, though, because I'm not supposed to eat those things anyways. The choices of what goes in are mine, but like McButterpants, my sleeve is definitely doing it's job on restriction. 2 BabySheldon and abarta83 reacted to this
marfar7 1,533 Posted February 13, 2014 I used to vomit almost daily with my lapband. I've only vomited once in the last 7 mths since my revision. I've actually tried to vomit (ate 1 bite too much and it caused much pain) but it's just not as easily done as when I was banded. I used to just bend over and my food would come up. Now I have to stick my toothbursh down my throat and nothing will come up. I guess thats good. I was becoming an unwitting bulimic while banded for almost 4 yrs. I think thats how I lost all of my weight. Now I hafta think about what I put into my tummy, as I can't press the reject button anymore. 1 BabySheldon reacted to this
Kiap82 239 Posted February 14, 2014 I'm 8 weeks out and haven't puked yet either. I try a new food slowly with a small bite just in case, but all seems fine. Eggbeater is the only thing my tummy said no to. Didn't throw up, tummy just got queasy after two bites and I stopped eating it. Sometimes it makes me nervous that I can eat whatever I want. But my restriction is there and I'm losing weight!!
magtart 603 Posted February 14, 2014 The only time I puked was when I finished eating and forgot and took a big gulp of Water. The Water along with a little food just sort of slid back out. Wasn't really like puking. 1 BabySheldon reacted to this
joyrokk5 15 Posted February 14, 2014 I am 3 weeks post op and was moved to regular food on day 8. They only time I got sick was the day after surgery. I have been concerned about my sleeve being to big. I have no problem at all drinking my 11 oz Protein Shake in like 10 minutes. Also I easily eat 4 oz of food 3 times a day. I do feel like I could eat more but I weigh my food out before I eat. I really thought that 4 oz was gonna be to much but not at all. I also gave no problem drinking at all. I almost wish that I had some restriction. I would know I was sleeved.

You're so soon out of surgery, I'm surprised your on full foods. Your sleeve is still healing and may not be ready to send you the signals.
macman 603 Posted February 14, 2014 In 7 weeks I have vomited once. That was a couple weeks ago when I chewed my Bariatric Vitamins without something in my stomach . Otherwise I have tolerated everything I have tried

I'm 8 weeks out now and can maybe eat 2 tbls solid food 1-2 x day. I can eat 1/4 cup or so of yogurt or Soup. Anything more and I'm too full to drink anything. I'm sure I'll appreciate the restriction further lit, but right now it's tough getting in all my nutrition. Do you know what size bougie your surgeon used? sassypants 674 Posted February 14, 2014 I puked a hell of a lot and I still do puke but not as much I wish I didn’t!For me I always had a sensitive stomach anyway like my sister and I had the same food for lunch infact she ate half of mine when I was done I got food poisoning she was fine.If anything is even slightly on the turn I would puke and get sick from it, I had a acid issue before too which made me puke a lot, also the last 3 years before my op I developed IBS which also give me stomach issues and if that wasn’t enough I was also lactose intolerant lolThis op actually cured my IBS and its not AS sensitive as it was I just puke for different reasons now lol
