tkauhi 90 Posted February 13, 2014 Be gained 2lbs. 8 days out and I had lost 16 lbs. after going on full liquids I've gained 2 lbs. is it the caloric increase or just me. What is wrong???
KristinaRnY 455 Posted February 13, 2014 Don't panic I'm sure it is just your body adjusting to your new food stage. Remember in order to gain a true pound you have to consume 3500 excess calories... Take a deep breath let your body heal and adjust. also, as fun as it is to see the pounds melt away, try not to weigh every day or you will drive yourself nuts!!! I can fluctuate 3lb from morning to evening in any given day because of Water retention and undigested food. Be patient with yourself, hide the scale :-p 3 Dee_1111, pquinn181 and Kay P reacted to this

Dee_1111 317 Posted February 13, 2014 Stay away from the scale during the healing process..IT IS NOT YOUR FRIEND..yet.. Exactly what Kristina said!! good girl Kristina..finally people are getting it!!!!!...How soon we forget all we've learned in the research process before, during and after the "before" or pre-op classes,.Doctors, Nutri, physc, life coaches, etc.. and handbook info about weight gain and loss in the first 6 months after surgery. curious? All the Pre-op info is out the window. its like people panic and forget all the information they've heard, learned and obtained about this surgery?...Im not scolding you tk..its just this question gets answered so many times we should just put a permanent heading thread just for this question. 1 pquinn181 reacted to this
tkauhi 90 Posted February 13, 2014 I read and learn as much as I can on here and you're right about all you said. I'm sure I ask the same questions as those gone before me. I didn't get an opportunity to meet with a nut at all and I wish I did have that chance and the only handbook I received were 4 pages, preop diet Clear Liquids and full liquid then a page for the Vitamins. I thought surly a nut would come visit me before my release but never did. I'll stay away from the scales for a while... Lol I just got the Aria fitbit scale that syncs with other devices and guess I got caught up in playing with my new machines... Lol
Dee_1111 317 Posted February 13, 2014 Well..lol..as you get to know me (oh goodness...lol) I have a couple of subjects that make me jump on my HIGH HORSE.. I do think it is our (the patient) responsibility to gather as much info as humanly possible about the kind of surgery one has chosen to have....study the typical side affects, so when the un-typical happens, you will know something is amiss... then, LIVE IT, LOVE IT, LEARN IT,,Being well informed is the best preventative medicine there is. And in WLS's case, being over-educated seems to be the consensus of the day. Just in the little time I've been on this site, I didn't realize so much could go wrong!!??..but apparently it can and does..so read a lot of what people say on this site, it is soooo unbelievably informative...good luck in your journey.
