Hi all, I am 8 days post-op. surgery date was 2/5/14. And I will tell you holy crap I was in a lot of pain for the first 7 days. Although the pain hasn't magically stopped now it feels more like I did an extreme Ab workout. Is any one else sick of liquid Protein Shakes? I know I am! I used to think yuck apple sauce now I am thinking yum apple sauce and I am going to eat the crap out of it. Lol. It may sound strange, but I miss chewing. I am finally starting to be able to take a little bigger then just a sip (thank goodness) I have found it really hard not to gulp my Water especially when I am really thirsty. I also have found it difficult to quench my thirst because I get so full after just a few sips.

Hi. Day 10 post-op. I'm doing well. I do miss chewing. Today I had a scrambled egg for Breakfast. OMG. An egg never tasted so good. The Protein Shakes are starting to get O L D..... As for my numbers... I'm down 15 lbs since surgery and 61 lbs from the pre-op diet. No pains no real discomfort. It's going to be a great summer for us.

I was sleeved on 2/3/13 and down about 7lbs. I really hate the Protein Drinks, although the Unjury ones mixed with unsweetened coconut milk are not bad.

After surgery my taste buds totally changed and Protein shakes sucked, found one , then couldn't do it. Now, I am four months out and since about a month out I use milk as my Protein Drink. I have a cup of milk (not a milk fan, and I'm lactose intolerant so I use lactaid milk), with a scoop of Ovaltine. I am four months out and down just over 95 pounds since surgery date. As for the gulping there is this bottle called a Camelbak bottle, get it, it is amazing and you will be amazed at the differance. My program really pushes these bottles, and no they don't sell them so they don't do it to make money. I've noticed a huge diff with in and swear by it. You can get them at Dicks Sporting good, even cheaper if you google 'cheap Camelbak bottle'. Hope this helped

Anybody have bad back pain? I'm 5 days post op

YES. I had back pain for the first 7 days. Mine was because of gas. So I had to move around and rub the spot that was hurting to help move the gas through. My dr. Suggested gas x or something like that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
