So would guacomole be considered edible during the stage 2 liquids, along with mashed potatoes and refried Beans? (obviously not at the same time)

I personally waited until mushy foods. Just concentrate on liquids during your liquid phases, trust me, that alone will be tough :)

I am fresh post op too and am ready for something other than clear fluids as well. (will likely get the green light for full fluids tomorrow)

I have had it explained to me with regard to full Fluid vs puree, your sleeve is still so very swollen that even pureed foods can get stuck and be pretty uncomfortable. Why risk feeling sick?

Congrats on your initial drop!

Be easy with the guac. Its extremely high calorie.

I personally wouldn’t risk it for 2 reasons

1. your stomach is really not ready to digest that kind of thing you can get a bit stuck on the staple line then get a cyst and cause all kinds of damage along with it again just not being ready for more solid food.

2. it may seem nice but at the time of doing it but 1min+ later you could experience what a lot of us did in the actual mushy and beyond stage which is a lot of pain sweats feeling like you can’t breath right and instant puking- when I say instant there is no warning you just puke.

Not very romantic or pleasant to you to go through that on a nice night out.

But that’s my thoughts on it.

Hi, I was approved to have refried Beans during phase 2, if they were thinned out really well. I got so sick. I have only been able to tolerate them since week four, and only a half teaspoon. I tried guacamole (which I absolutely love) and I couldn't stomach it, and I still can't (which is really upsetting). Every doctor definitely is different with their food phases. I was just released to soft foods today, and I was surprised to be told I could eat apples (without the skin, and oranges). I had my first cutie (mandarin) today, and it was the BEST cutie I have ever had. My sleeve is telling me what it wants, and believe me if my sleeve doesn't like it I haven't tried it again. The violent vomiting is a lesson learned for me :). My mind and my stomach need to get on the same page lol.

Guac is one of the things I found I can no longer eat. Does not agree with my digestion anymore and I used to love it. Refried Beans are fine and had them from the blender when I was in the mushy food stage and still eat the low fat ones.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
