Can this be happening?!

Recommended Posts

I am 12 days post op (sleeved Jan31st) and lost 8 pounds during the first week (last Friday). I am now on puree foods but still unable to eat much everyday but the scale has gone up almost a pound. I am a little discouraged because it's kind of soon for me to hit a stall. Can someone provide some insight please?

I did this. Went up 3 times. It totally freaked me out. I left the scales alone a few days and came back to weigh in at a loss. I think it's the digestive system readjusting. My bathroom habits changed and my body is adjusting... not to mention hormones! Give it some time. It is normal.

I agree with everyone. Your body has to adjust. Right now IT'S freaking out wondering where all the food has gone and if it's going to get any more. So, it's holding on to everything. Don't be surprised if you don't change for a week or two. It's all perfectly normal. I went to the nutritionist after I started pureed foods because I was so freaked out. Just follow your high Protein diet like the doctor says. Eat when you're hungry (really hungry) and don't when you're not. It will level out. I know you're reading these responses going, "Oh sure, but you don't know me." I know because I did the exact same thing. I still struggle with it. Keep up the good work. Any weight lost is GOOD weight lost. Any weight not gained is phenomenal. Remind yourself that you'll never be "that weight" again - you won't. It will come in time. Let your body get over the "WTF" phase it's currently in. :)

You're still very early in the process - I agree, get off the scale.

If you look at the numbers, there's no way you can be gaining - you're not consuming enough. You're body is just trying to figure out what you just did to it. It will hold on to Water some days and some days it will think everything is OK.

Be patient and be kind to your body and your new tiny tummy. The weight will come off, but you need to recover first.

Our bodies are like a thermostat and fluctuate up and down a few lbs. as we lose the weight. This is perfectly normal.

The ladies are right, don't be a slave to the scale. Weigh yourself once a week. Spend that energy on focusing on doing everything right. Like Protein first, journaling and hydrating.

Also i found that the tape measure makes a better friend than the scale. If the scale isn't moving the tape measure is sure to be. I measure once a month.

We all have different metabolisms but have found that this pattern is relative to many others experiences.

Just as long as you're doing everything to a "T" then don't worry to much. You're already a success story by following through with the surgery. Now set back and be rewarded with the many benefits to come as we use our tool the "sleeve" along with the tools we're given, to become healthy healthy healthy! CHILLAX :)

As a testament to Motherearth's post above...I haven't lost anything since 01/31/14...that's 12 days. I will add that while on vacation for the past week, I logged 35 miles walking up and down the hills of San Francisco. I walked every day. I was sure the scale was going to tell me I'm finally in Onderland. Not so fast....I'm the same weight as when I left. What the hell?????

So this afternoon, I took my measurements - I've lost another 9.75 inches since mid-January, the last time I took them. My footprint on this earth is becoming smaller, even if the scale doesn't say so; I'm taking up less space.

My husband started hiding the scale from me around Week 2 - I was weighing every day, sometimes multiple times during the day. I was obsessed. Then came the dreaded stall, a week earlier than expected. It lasted two weeks. I was glad he hid it and only brought it out on Thursdays. I've asked him to do the same now - after weigh-in tomorrow, it's gone for a week.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
