I made it, and it's too big to leave in a blog! Sorry but I am so excited. Someone at work came to me yesterday and said oh you lost weight I didn't notice until they, other coworkers, said it but you look good what did you do? To which I replied with my usual response, I don't drink soda, a little juice and lots of Water, Don't eat fast food, exercise smaller portions yada yada yada.

Then the big question: How much did you lose? It seems so hard to come out and say it and expect people to believe me, because I barely believe it. It's just that hard to grasp the reality of it all. But I rounded and told her 130. Going back to my first consultation with my surgeon he asked what my goal weight was I told him 175, to which he was quick to assure me the average weight loss with the band is about 40% of your excess weight. That meaning 40% or the 200 something lbs I was over weight and not 40% or the 331 that I was. That calculated out to me possibly losing some 80 lbs. So far I've beat the odds by 50 lbs. Needless to say I'm very pleased. It's been a while since I've been to the office, I ought to pay them a visit one of these days. My goal is to reach ultimate goal of 165 by my two year surgiversary! 35 lbs? No problem, knock on wood!

That is awesome! And you look fabulous!

Out of curiosity, did you do it with the band and diet only, or did you exercise?

For the first 8 months I was very strict with the diet and exercising very regularly. Then I slacked off worked out every so often, but still no soda or fast food anything like that. Just not exactly what I should've done. Since September '13 though, I've been pretty good about eating and the gym again. If I didn't go to the gym I very well and if I went to the gym my eating was fair, but could've been better. As of late though, I've been very strict again.

Congratulations!!!

What a great job!!

FYI Leepers... I hardly exercised at all... I have spinabifida... I've had 7 spinal fusions and both my SI joints are fused... and I'm waiting for a hip replacement... BUT while I was losing and still do I walk every day (except in the very cold weather). I walk with a cane so I don't walk fast but I do walk. When there is no snow I strap on 2 lbs hand and ankle weights... they are a big help for resistances. They really helped tone my legs and arms. I also found a pedometer also kept me motivated on the number of steps I took each day. The weights hold on with velcro... they are really great... several people in my coffee group have purchased them.

Interesting, Tom. The reason I asked is that I've noticed that pretty much all of the people who've reached their goal have incorporated some sort of exercise along with changing the way they eat. I wonder if someone could ever be truly successful if they continued to eat a fast food and high carb diet but just in smaller amounts. I suspect not.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
