I will also be working full-time as well!

Im only taking 3 days off. We are already short one nurse and it's just not possible for me to take more time. One of the ladies I work with also has the band and said that was all she needed.

I get banded on March 26!..I got so excited and forgot that I am signed up to resume working on my doctorate degree on April 3rd. I didn't even think about till my advisor called me today! My question is do you all think I will be able to start April 3 being 8 days post op. It's online classes but the doctoral program is pretty demanding, I wondering if I need to change my start date. I started working on it March of last year, my mom passed so I had to withdraw! Thought I was gonna start November classes and my dad passed!! No need to say I prob packed 30-35 lbs in that 8 month span!

I'm working on my masters taking two online classes plus working full time. I am being banded exactly a week from today and taking that whole week off from work. However, there is no time off school so I'm hoping to feel better toward the end of the week to do my assignments. I hope I don't need pain meds for too long because that will really put a dent my ability to keep up!

Good luck!

K

I am on day 8, so I know how you feel. People say it gets easier. I think it just gets more boring. I am so tired of those shakes! But, I'm 11 pounds down so can't complain too much.

Keep at it!

dlove:

Congratulations we have the same surgery date. I just had my last meal and will start my pre op diet tomorrow. Have to go see the dr. in the morning and get final instructions as to where to go on my surgery date. I live more than an hour's drive to the hospital so found out I will have to stay in a Motel for 5 days. Well, we have to do what we have to do. Got all my diet stuff at Walmart and now set to go. Good luck. I'm not taking my computer so won't be able to post until after the 11th.

I thought I would mourn food more on the pre op liquid diet but it's not too bad. It actually takes some of the guess work of eating right so my stress over dieting is gone. I've been around tons of delicious food over the past 10 days and I think I only craved something once.

I won't say I LOVE the shakes, but it's really not as horrible as I thought it would be.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
