Yep, I'm in a stall. It sucks. It's lasted 12 days so far.

I just got back from a week's vacation in San Francisco where I walked, walked and walked some more. Up and down those steep hills. I logged over 37 miles up and down those fu&^%ing hills. I was confident I would come home and be in Onderland, but it was not to be...202 the scale read again this morning, the same as it did on February 1st.

I shall carry on, though. This is just another bump in the road. Today I will focus on my Water and Protein and will go to the gym. I will also say a prayer to the Scale Gods and ask for a nicer reading in the near future.

Have a great day, guys!

Could it be that all of that intense walking has triggered your body to hang onto some pounds for a while? I've been reading your blog and have been impressed with the amount of activity you had on your vacation.

Reading this post just reinforces my decision that I will only weigh myself once a month or at doctor's visits post-surgery. I'm trying not to get too attached to what the scale says and if I weigh monthly I won't get caught up in the drama of my weight going up and down by a pound or two.

I was 207 the day of my surgery Nov. 19th its almost been 3 months now..I have only lost 27 lbs since my surgery (10 before surgery)...but I have gone from a size 18 to a size 12 pants..& a 2X top to a L..I lost more inches than weight. I am a Fitness Pal freak..I measure everything & do everything right..I am just a slow loser..I went to my NUT & surgeon last week...they recommended me going from 900 calories to 1200 calories a day..I had a Metabolic Test done (which is just breathing into a machine) to rate what I should be doing, well that said I should be eating more calories & that my body was in a starvation mode (hmm). I am trying this new calorie change for a month to see if I can lose more weight..they did suggest that the more calories should come from Protein only..

My husband and I had that conversation this morning - about the body hanging on. It could be. It was also interesting - I could see a different in his legs, they are more muscular. So, it could be I built some muscle.

I agree on the scale - I need to put it away again. I have been weighing every day and that's not healthy for me.

Now that I'm ~20 lbs from goal I'll notice if I weigh myself on Sunday the scale is -2 lbs. I get on the scale Monday it's +2 lbs. Tuesday -.25 lbs. Wednesday -0 lbs. You get the idea. The body fluctuates constantly. Stalls happen to everyone at some point - usually at different points in time. Once you get down to a certain point it gets really hard and you're stalled more often than you are losing. It's good you changed up your routine on your trip. Keep doing that, with your food and exercise, and the scale will keep going down. I promise ^_^ .

So I did my measurements today because I wanted to see some progress. I'm happy to report, I'm down another 9.75 inches from mid-January. (Total inches lost since surgery is 38.25.)

I suggest everyone takes their measurements prior to surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
