Surgery Date April 9th

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am scheduled for April 9th & am very nervous. I think I'm more afraid and nervous about the liquid diet portion rather than the surgery itself. HOw did everyone cope w/ having to run a household and have surgery.. :faint:

hi! Welcome to LBT!!! There is a great April 07 bandsters group going. You can find them if you do a search under April---it is called April 2007, head start on spring...or something like that! They are a really supportive group, and one you will enjoy having pre surgery to help ease the jitters together, and post surgery, to chat with, compare, and commiserate, the post op diet, and all the other issues you are concerned about. All of you going through it around the same time, makes it so nice!!! I totally enjoy my April 2006 group for that reason!!

It was a fairly simple surgery in my opinion, but every one is different of course. I took it wasy, for a few days, but by no means was sitting in bed---I was up, doing minor things around the house, cooking, went shopping etc. Not a big deal!

Liquids for the extended time---is not fun---but we all did it, and survived it. Although at times, you swear you won't....that is when having all your April buddies dealing with it too will help you!

Hang in there, look up the group---and soon you will be in bandland!!!

Kat

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
