catfish87 3,471 Posted February 11, 2014 I was browsing around....and came across this article. It's from a well known surgeon, you see his quotes all over these boards. Hope he's right on this one! A quote from the attached article: "Fish eaters - people who eat fish as their primary source of Protein, have the longest recorded lifespans in the world. Next in line are vegetarians who have the same lifespan as some meat-eaters, lowest living group are vegans." http://drsimpson.net/newsletter/December-2013-weight-loss-newsletter-4/December-2013-weight-loss-newsletter-4.html 3 mrsto, KAATNS and Leepers reacted to this
B-52 7,113 Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) Notice that both groups avoid meat!! I think that has a huge part in it....My Dr.'s have always been after me to stop eating red meat...and thanks to the band, I have for 3 years now...can definitely tell the difference. (BTW, I'm broiling my fish as I type this) Edited February 11, 2014 by B-52 1 catfish87 reacted to this
cheryl2586 3,053 Posted February 12, 2014 Its been a long time since I have eaten meat. It just does not work for me. I do eat a lot of fish. Mostly Salmon and tuna. I think it's really the Omega 3's they are looking for. Give or take fish is good for you. If I live longer and I am gone mentally I will come back and haunt you lol. 1 catfish87 reacted to this

Hi again Terry- I had my first fill...3 cc...before it I was able to get fish down all the time..now however I've tried it once and it wouldn't go down at all...I was eating fried tilapia using olive oil. It's usually very moist but ....it wouldn't go down. If I were to add a sauce over it what would you suggest? I don't eat any red meat except hamburger as fat free as I can get it. And the other meat is mostly chicken thighs usually cooked in a crock pot with sauces bbq's, cream of chicken Soup and spices. Sometimes cut breasts in chunks and bake in a creamy casserole and that usually works too. But I would love to get back to fish more.

Terry, I like and eat Cod somtimes, but agree it CAN be a bit difficult/DRY...depending on how its prepared. I will put it in a saute pan, with just a couple tablespoons of Water, tight fitting lid, and just bring up to a steam. Its done in about 5 minutes.. Season to your liking. As a suggestion.....Long John Silvers has something very similar to this. "Hold the batter cod" If i'm on the road, its a nice choice.

If you like a grilled/blackened style fish, maybe look at Swai. A very light-flavored white fish. It goes well with most sauces, like a piquant, or even cream occasionally. Give it a try... Talapia is a fish I usually will pass on....just not my fav.
