I recommend slowly walking for a while. It should straighten your organs and help reduce the pain sharply. It's not much, but I don't think the pain can be eliminated entirely.

When my tummy aches I tell it to shut up! I have a great inner dialogue going on all day with myself. Sorry I wasn't much help. :P

I would definitely check your handbook if given one or contact your surgeon before taking any OTC meds I know after RNY you can't take pepto bysmal so be careful!

I drown my aches with Water, I flush away the ache, seems to work for me..although, this past Sunday evening, I thought I was gonna die..The grandkids were over, and they had beef dogs w/ mac & cheese. I ate TWO piece of dog, 20 minutes later, I was like-->WHAT THE HELL????... my stomach hurt so bad, that my neck and right arm hurt also?????..I downed a 1/2 bottle of Water, it took an hour for that stabbing pain to settle down enough to give me a bit of relief...NOTE TO SELF...walk away from the beef/hot dogs..go figure????

What you described Dee is what I get almost every time I eat . 15 to 20 min after I eat I get that belly ach and I have it for 30 to 45 mins . I am 6 months out does anyone know why? Is it what I am eating? Or eating to much ? I don't think to much but who knows.

I'm sorry I shouldn't have said every time I eat .but a lot of the time I thought it might be choosing the wrong things I don't have any problems with Soup. I can't eat grilled chicken salad with dressing I just had my 6 month check up .

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
