jlong007 6 Posted February 11, 2014 Hello All, Everything has been going fine, been able to get in all my fluids, all my Protein. Today I went to take the Celebrate chewable Vitamin C and I threw it up. Sooo scared, I called my doctor and said that it's nothing to worry about, that particular Vitamin C is to acidic and didn't agree with your stomach, so I will stop taking it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Fiddleman 4,376 Posted February 11, 2014 Yeah, bariactric Vitamins suck big time (sorry for crude expression, but it is the truth). I gagged, dry heaved and vomited them until I said enough is enough (said like Samuel Jackson in snakes on a plane). Try switching to adult Flinstones or trader joe chewable tablets. Any regular brand will work, but make sure it meets the recommended RDA amount by your surgical center. In my case, that was 200%. 1 Phoenix79 reacted to this
Busymomof3 181 Posted February 11, 2014 Same thing happened to me. I switched to Flintstones complete and as soon as I could started Viactiv chocolate chewy Calcium. No more problems. 1 BabySheldon reacted to this

Aileen-March 2014 Sleeved 45 Posted February 11, 2014 Hello, I am scheduled to be sleeved in March. My surgeon told me to take liquid Vitamins. Has anyone tried these? I have been searching and have found some at Super supplements. Thanks Much
SnohoGal98296 371 Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) Has anyone heard about or tried the Gummy style Vitamins? I am pre-op but the smell of some of the tablet style vitamins is just obnoxious so I have been recently successful at regularly taking vitamins with the new gummy type. I know, I know, I'm 45, it is what it is:-D Reading about your preference for chewables makes me wonder if gummies are an option too? jlong007 6 Posted February 11, 2014 I would not recommend the ones that I bought from Celebrate. They are really chalky and just don't taste good

My Nut said I wasn't to take them Bc they are too sugary and some ppl do not readily absorb them in that form and they just come right out on their stools. Other people take them so I guess it just depends on if you doc's office ok'd them
Amanda Nicole Hosaflook 65 Posted February 11, 2014 I was also told not to take the gummies either. The Bari Vitamins make me sick too! Idk what to take! Suggestions?
AllisonKara 46 Posted February 11, 2014 I agree that they are indeed not easily accepted by most of us. You might better want to switch the tablets for a while. Try the chewables later.
NMJG 1,266 Posted February 11, 2014 Bariatric Vitamins are disgusting. My doctor's office prescribes them but I have much better luck with the following: Trader Joe's High Potency Multi chewable Kirkland (Costco) chocolate calcium citrate chews with Vitamin D or Trader Joe's Calcium citrate Injectable Vitamin B12 (prescription from my doctor, inject them at home once a month, very easy, no pain) Vitamin C Ester (not ascorbic acid so no tummy problems), Kirkland/Cosco 1 Fiddleman reacted to this

It's just, well I take them I feel like I just discovered the PB&J, you know?
EarthyGoalie 253 Posted February 12, 2014 Well, I do take the gummies and my doc never mentioned that I shouldn't. Love them! Lol.
