Should I get a fill?

Recommended Posts

I have a dilema. I have good restriction at 3.0 in my 10cc band (which holds 4.2). Recently I determined that I am always hungry. I am down 8 lbs since my last fill. I don't know whether or not a fill can help with the hunger or not. Please help!:help:

I spoke to my surgeon today and since I am getting hungry every 2 hours he asked me what I have been eating. I guess I haven't been eating enough solid foods. So tomorrow I am starting on more foods like chicken breasts, fish filets and shrimp. That way I can see if that will keep me full longer.

Sounds like a good plan to me!!! I was told if I could eat more than 2/3 of a cup of solid Protein, and was hungry within 2-3 hours, then I was probably ready for a fill. It is amazing to me, how different foods do react differently as far as lasting in the pouch longer! Good Luck---hope this fixes your hunger for awhile!!!

ladyvase and Kat817, thanks for the posts! I called my surgeon's office to explain to them what I've been eating. I start with a Protein Shake in the a.m. followed by tuna fish salad then cheese stick, yogurts then beef at night. Everything I was eating with the exception of the beef is soft! Therefore he instructed me to add solids Proteins back in. I am a little scared. Isn't that funny. But I am so use to eating a certain way. So that is what I am going to do for a week to see if I can still lose my lb or 2. Thanks again.

Ok so did they recommend you take the shake out? I too eat/drink a shake every a.m., then another for lunch and then real food for dinner-= Protein first and so forth. No real weight loss on the scale, but things are fitting and that is nice and I can tell with other things as well. So I am wondering should I cut out the shakes? I am using Atkins and I make shakes out of Unjury with a banana and FF milk- no other sugar. What do you think???:rolleyes

Why should you have another fill if you feel restriction with the fill you have right now??? As your doctor mentioned, you probably need to eat more solid food and don't worry, as long as you take your time, chew slowly, small bits at a time, you should be fine.

Julissita, no he said it was okay if I have the Protein Shake. I just have to be use to the fact that I may be hungry 2 hours later. If that is the case he said to add a solid to Breakfast or start right on solids when I get hungry, like some chicken breast. Egg whites are okay too but they are still considered soft.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
