Hello, my surgery is in 3 weeks and I'm trying to get a feel for the best tasting Protein Shakes. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!!

I drink Premier Protein RTD and that's it for shakes. I also drink Isopure Zero Carb, which is like a fruity drink with 40g of Protein.< /p>

I am a big fan of unjury chocolate splendor and Unjury strawberry sorbet.

Muscle milk is pretty good.

Unjury chocolate Splendor is delicious. Pure Protein ready to drink is good. However I won't use any of these because of sucralose/Splenda in them. I also mixed Isopure with Crystal Light. I have so many sample packs of Unjury. Oh well.

The only thing I can really tolerate is Premier Protein...and I have to chug it in the morning to get it down. LOL. I liked Muscle Milk before surgery, but after surgery it started giving me a real bad case of "The Hershies"...if you get my drift. :-)

Don't trust your farts for a few weeks. You're welcome. :-)

I don't like any of the RTD (I did okay with Premier Protein at the beginning but now they gag me). My powders of choice: Syntrax Matrix orange cream, banana cream, strawberries & cream, milk chocolate, mint cookie. Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard vanilla ice cream & caramel toffee fudge, Unjury chocolate splendor, Chike Iced coffee & Chike Banana Magic (I generally only use a half serving of Chike because otherwise the carbs are too high).

Immediately after surgery I did a lot of Syntrax Nectar (fuzzy navel, Roadside Lemonade, lemon tea, twisted cherry) and Unjury chicken Soup.< /p>

You won't have much capacity following surgery so find a shake/mix with a high level of Protein which will give you more bang fir the buck. Isopure no carb mix with 12 ounces of milk gives you 68 grams if protein. That one shake will satisfy your daily requirement.

Muscle milk light (20g) and pro (40g) are both good. I get light at Costcos.

How about a no flavor Protein mix, is there one that tastes better than another?

How about using some davinci sugar free Syrup to flavor them. I use Cherry flavored in my chocolate Unjury shake and it's so good. Tastes like a chocolate covered Cherry but they have lots of flavors!

I used Unjury plain. They aren't really no flavor so get small quantities to experiment.

I use Unjury also--Strawberry Sobet with Crystal Light Lemonade and Vanilla with Crystal Light Orange. One of each each day with an 8-oz. glass of milk gets me to my Protein supplement requirements.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
