Color Run

Recommended Posts

Last night I decided to sign up for this year's Color Run with my husband and in-laws! This is a HUGE step for me, since I've been avoiding walking long distances for years. I'm definitely not ready to walk (not run!) 5k yet, but I have six months to get myself there! I'm so glad I feel I can finally put myself "out there" and do things that I've always wanted to!

Awesome to set a goal like that. Looks like a lot of people have good luck with that C25K app.

I am also signed up for a color run. Mine is in Riverside, CA in three weeks!! I'll only be 11 weeks out from surgery but have been making pretty good progress with endurance and strength. I plan on power walking it as I'm still to heavy to actually run but I am excited none the less. Since it is out of state it will also be my first time on a plane since surgery and I'm hoping I won't have to use the extender for the first time in years!!!

Good for you!!! I ran my first 5k a few weeks back, it was awesome. I have a bunch of 5k races lined up for this year. I would have never thought in a million years that I would enjoy running, now it has become a part of my weekly fitness routine. Good luck, hope you have a great time.

I'll pretty much never be able to run, my ankles are ate up with arthritis and my feet are on there way. Although honestly, not a huge loss for me, even when I weighed much less and had good feet, I still HATED running. haha But walking...that I can do! =D

I'll pretty much never be able to run........

Don't be so sure about that.....

20 years ago, when I was close to the same weight I am now, I hated running too. Then after gaining 130+ lbs, I was sure it was forever out of the question!

But funny things can happen to us after losing significant amounts of weight and improving our health. You may ( and already have, it sounds like ) experience the desire to do those 5k walks/runs you see and hear so many people talk about....never mind any pace or time in the beginning. A lot of times our first one is for some charitable cause....a donation if you will. It's just you against yourself....proving to yourself that you can do this. And I assure you, you can.

Next thing you know, One shirt, two shirts....soon, you'll have a whole closet full of them. And you'll want more! It really can be addicting.

I was at a support group meeting a couple weeks ago, when the NUT asked me before I had my surgery, if I could have ever imagined I'd be running a half marathon. I couldn't have imagined walking up a couple flights of stairs without getting winded 5 years ago.

But with a little determination and a lot of motivation from my running coach ( ;) ), we're runners!

Congrats on signing up for your first one!

PS....I grew up not far from E-town. Go Wildcats!

So true Catfish! I NEVER thought I would be a runner. I signed up for a couch to 5k program 3 months after I had surgery and ran my fist 5k at 5 months post op! I will be 10 months post op tomorrow and have my first 10k Saturday! It will be my 9th race since my first one in September 2013! Who'd would have known I could run!! I'm still in shock! I've lost 108 pounds and the things I'm am now able to do physically amaze me every day!!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
