m&m4ever 109 Posted February 9, 2014 I eat bananas, but usually 1/2 of one and I add some Protein with it. Greek yogurt, cheese or Peanut Butter.
Madam Reverie 2,958 Posted February 9, 2014 There's nothing wrong with eating a banana. If you're craving it, enjoy it, it's all good. As long as you're eating it as part of a Protein and Vitamin rich diet and by eating it, you're not depriving yourself of the space for other vital nutrients. Try not to let the weird and the wonderful get to you on here!
muneca1029 117 Posted February 9, 2014 I was just eating the banana alone I will start adding some Protein in it, thank you. I could eat the whole banana???
HealthyNewMe 1,935 Posted February 9, 2014 I eat a whole banana with crunchy Peanut Butter spread on it. I freeze bananas as well and use them in my Ninja blender with my Protein shake! 2 ElyQuint and muneca1029 reacted to this
McButterpants 2,846 Posted February 9, 2014 Bananas have been approved for me since the puree stage. My NUT's concern about bananas is the high glycemic value - especially really ripe bananas. BUT, I say everything in moderation. If you want a banana, eat a banana. It's not a jelly donut, right?!?!?
ElyQuint 446 Posted February 18, 2014 I never eat a whole banana (or any non berry fruit). I use it as an ingredient often by the thirds. I track my numbers and let them decide.
TheWigster 70 Posted February 22, 2014 I was told by my dietician to be very careful with bananas because they are rich in calories. A serving of banana is a half of one. She also said to pair it with a Protein and limit To one per day. 1 Birthsjourney reacted to this
Kindle 8,667 Posted February 22, 2014 I am 2 months out and currently taking antibiotics for a bad Clostridial infection. The antibiotics are very irritating to my sleeve and I can barely eat/ drink anything. Supposed to take meds with food. Thank goodness for bananas! It's one of the few foods I can tolerate right now. I eat 1/3 small banana each time I take my antibiotic (three times/day). They weird thing is I was never a big banana fan before surgery.
FitnFabfor2014 358 Posted February 22, 2014 Love bananas! I put them in my Protein drinks, and smoothies YUM! I've never been told by my doctor to steer clear of them. Bananas are not on my lovely "don't not touch list".
Arts137 1,811 Posted February 22, 2014 I avoid because they have a LOT of sugar (high glycemic as said before). I am being VERY controlled when it comes to sugars of ALL kinds and refined carbs. Just me though.
music1618 879 Posted February 22, 2014 I eat 1 to 2 bananas a day. It has really good Vitamins in it. As for the sugar I have always been told eat then early in the day and you burn off that sugar. It has a good amount of potassium, andi found when I stopped eating them my potassium was off in my blood work. I am able to eat an entire banana without any problem and use them as my in between meals snack. I for some reason get a little nauseous when I pair it with Protein. I am 1.5 years pot op! 1 muneca1029 reacted to this
muneca1029 117 Posted February 22, 2014 Great to hear this From all of you. I am so relieved. I have changed the way I eat my banana though, I used to eat a banana only now you guys have me great ideas and now I mix it with my Protein in the mornings and yes I could eat a banana and a big one too with no problem. Thank you guys for your input I really feel comfortable now eating my banana ( gotta say I love them, I could say also the only food I enjoy eating. I love fruits in general! ) 1 FitnFabfor2014 reacted to this
pookybear 284 Posted February 26, 2014 I eat a whole banana almost every day. I usually eat it with Peanut Butter as a mid-morning snack. I don't eat much else for fruit so I figure I'm allowed a banana as long as I have some Protein with it. 2 CBT and FitnFabfor2014 reacted to this
