I feel for you! I remember when I went through coffee withdrawals! I was literally down for 4 days with major headaches and tiredness :(. I can't wait to have a cup of Java again soon! 2 months or so to go!

It is really funny. I was the biggest coffee drinker I knew. After surgery I drink maybe a cup of Decaf a few times a week. I also drink one cup of decaf tea almost every day. I know that I am not suppose to drink decaf but I do. It is funny how the urge to drink coffee is gone.

Started my liver reduction this morning. I'm dying for a cup of coffee.

When I first started my weightloss clinic I wasn't sure if I would be able to stick to it for the reason being I was told that I had to give up coffee it was my biggest and only addiction. I even had to do1/2 decafe & 1/2 reg so I could kick it slowly but now I no longer even desire coffee ever. I haven't been told we can't have decafe anymore but I will be sure to call my clinic to seek an answer as to why we can't. Best of luck to all. Can't wait for my date.

I'm curious to know the reason for not having Decaf. My nurtrionist said decaf was fine. She actually said the reason for not having caffine is because it can be dehydrating but studies show it's not if you're a regular caffine user. I know there are some other concerns about caffeine making it harder to absorb Calcium though.

My new favorite Protein Shake includes coffee. I have not resumed drinking more than that though.

I'm sorry that I have taking so long to repost. I jus got off the phone with my bariatic clinic they say that every clinic may say something different. About what they want their patients to do but everyone is different but caffine can; prolong healing, cause dehydration, cause weight gain, and caluim absorbsion difficultly. Are all possible as well as it is addictive. Bad for your nervers. Yeah I was a coffee drinker but all that info just came from my clinic and that's why I posted it. Not cuz I didn't like it. But I must admit. I have cheated and tryed a sip or two but its jus not the same anymore. I've past my goal weight. Clinic said I had to be 222 before being able to seting appointment to see the surgeon.and I'm now at 215 so I will post again soon. Hope I was helpful. Keep in touch everyone. Stay focused.

I feel the same way. Before surgery I was seriously addicted to coffee. About two months before surgery I quit cold turkey. I had a week of dull headaches and foggy brain but then I started to feel better. At six months post-op I tried coffee and dumped it out. Over the next six weeks or so I'd try again off and on, same results. I do drink it now (almost 9 mos out) but only a couple times per week. :-)

During my psych eval I told the dr that the only real issue I could foresee was the coffee thing. He looked at me funny and asked what I meant. When I said I wasn't sure about giving up my morning coffee, he assured me I didn't have too. He did warn me that my new tummy might need a bit of time to warm up to it though. Also I was looking at my pre-op Meal Replacement packet and they even have a recipe for a shake that includes coffee and it doesn't say it has to be Decaf.

I am 10 months out and drink my coffee every morning. I also buy a coffee Protein Shake mix that is so good. There are several kinds such as Chike, Click and Big Train. My favorite is the Optimum Nutrition brand coffee Protein. I did give my stomach a rest after surgery and did decaf for awhile but now since I gave up all soda, I figured alittle coffee is my treat!

I drink nectar Cappuccino Protein Shakes. Sometimes I add half a cup of real coffee to my shake. It really gives me a good coffee fix. I do notice now that when I drink regular coffee, I can't drink a whole cup. I make my coffee from my keurig and then pour out half of the coffee, add a bit of sweet n low and flavored Creamer and then top it off with milk. And I can't even finish that cup. So the rest of that cup goes into my Nectar Cappuccino Protein Shake.< /p>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
