3 ISSUES......PLEASE HELP!

Recommended Posts

I could use a little help.......on 2-5-14 I got a band to sleeve conversion, but sometimes it feels like things haven't settled back in like my organs are moving around when I lay on a certain side then try and get back up. And I am getting hunger pains. And when I drink anything cold it literally hurts when it gets to the bottom. Can anyone relate to what I'm going through? I also can drink a lot..... almost done with 64 oz of Water. I'm starting to feel like it's not going to work that good me.

Wow, you are really newly sleeved. First off you will still be able to feel stuff internally for a while yet. As far as hunger, what you're probably experiencing is head hunger, healing and acid so make sure you're taking your acid blocker. Fyi... I used to be an ice fanatic, even purchased a mini freezer so I could have ice at work, an now almost 4 months out I still can't drink anything colder than room temperature. Weird. Most of us go through the "I don't think this is gonna work for me" thing very early out but stick with your program and give it some time. Most if not all of your early issues will go away in time. Congratulations and good luck

Cangudz, I would say relax a little. I read posts daily and we all have in common that we worry about things. I pretty much drink Water without ice now because I prefer it. You might try leaving the cold drinks alone and try room temp. I do not measure my water but I drink all day. No problem drinking. You just had surgery 3 days ago, so take it easy on yourself! We discuss head hunger here a lot. You think you are hungry...... Best wishes, and rest up girl!

The cold Water thing is tough to get used to. I loved ice cold Water and it took me about a month of trying to force my new tummy to like it too before I finally conceded defeat. Never let it be said that I am not stubborn and possibly a little dumb sometimes :) LOL Since I switched to not refrigerating my bottled water I can drink it fairly normally - not quite a chug but more than the sips I was doing with the ice cold water then feeling nauseous or having the pain you described. Hang in there - you will find what works for you and have great success.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
