Ugh, still feel hungry!

I actually just bought some Premiere Protein last night! I will try it today! When I can eat soft foods I will definitely try the plain Greek yogurt in place of sour cream. Thank you for the tips!

Any good recipes for egg drop Soup? That sounds delicious! Of course, it would taste even better with a couple of egg rolls!

I still eat this quite frequently and add a scoop of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Unflavored Protein powder for extra Protein. It's cheap, easy and good. The sesame oil really does make it taste just that much better. :)

Prep Time: 5 minutes Cook Time: 10 minutes Total Time: 15 minutes Ingredients:
  • 4 cups chicken broth or stock
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 -2 green onions, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • A few drops of sesame oil (optional)
Preparation:

In a wok or saucepan, bring the 4 cups of chicken broth to a boil. Add the white pepper and salt, and the sesame oil if using. Cook for about another minute.

Very slowly pour in the eggs in a steady stream. To make shreds, stir the egg rapidly in a clockwise direction for one minute. To make thin streams or ribbons, gently stir the eggs in a clockwise direction until they form.

Garnish with green onion and serve.

Stephanie, where do you get the Isopure?

I agree that the Protein Shakes are not great. I've been making myself drink 2 of the isopure dymatize chocolate shakes with skim milk and a couple drops of almond extract twice a day and that gives me 66g of Protein In a small amount...one scoop of the chocolate Protein Powder, 8 oz skim milk and almond extract. I mix it in the bullet so it is creamy. I'm going to get some banana extract today to try.

I actually misspoke...it is Dymatize Iso 100 Protein powder. I got mine at The Vitamin Shoppe but you should be able to find it at any health/nutrition store. I tried the Premiere Protein Shake today and it isn't bad. It has 30g of protein. I'm actually hoping to find a different flavor besides chocolate.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
