Ugh, still feel hungry!

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 days post op, and still on Clear Liquids right now. I've added boost and sherbet to my foods because I just can't get full. I can get "full" off liquids, of course, but it's not satisfying me. The boost is as close to feeling satisfied as I get, because it's got all the added nutrients in it. I had lapband before sleeve, so my stomach was already accustomed to smaller portions. Anyone else have this problem, and find a solution?

Warm savory broth always made me satisfied. I simmered it and added herbs to make it taste better.

I'll have to try that, although I'm getting sick of broth too. Was thinking about straining chicken noodle Soup just for a different flavor of broth. If I'm able to handle the boost/sherbet, would thinned cream soup pose a problem?

I was so scared and disappointed early out because I was so hungry all the time. It stopped cold once I started eating real food again. Hang in there

I just had my surgery this past Tuesday, Feb 4. I feel like I am starving! After reading about it I'm wondering if it is gas or real hunger? I know when I drink my Protein, my "pouch" feels full...like my chest is going to explode. Is this how you feel?

And do you get little bubbly feelings? Like you've got to burp but it's trapped in there? It's so uncomfortable. I found that walking around after eating helps that. I'm not sure about you, but I'm still fairly beat so I usually eat and then lay down, which causes that feeling. I also feel it when I take a pill. But I definitely have felt like that! I kept asking my mom why I was so damn hungry if they just took out almost my entire stomach haha.

Yes, the rumbling feeling is getting old. I've been up a lot and even walked a mile today. I think I will be sorry tomorrow cause my left side under my boob is killing me...it is so tight it hurts to take a deep breath. This hunger needs to go away!

No I haven't pooped! I plan on getting something to make it happen today since it is day 5 without it. I was planning on going back to work tomorrow but think I may take a few more days.

Wow! I had mine on 2-5-14 & I feel very as well! I also have pain but it's under my right breast like where my port was when I had the lapband! And you're ready to go back to work????? Wow! You're brave!

That definitely might be it! I pooped on day 2 post op, and it helped the gas pain so much. You're definitely brave for getting ready to go back to work! What do you do?

I must be a rebel but I take potato Soup, thin it out with Water and add some cheese to the top. Pop it in the microwave and Im good to go. My doc allows creamed Soups on stage 1. So far so good. I stepped on the scale this morning and I have lost 11 pounds. Surgery was 2/3/14!

That's awesome! I added some low fat sour cream to broth last night, it went down fine and I felt full for the first time in awhile. Ate it a bit too fast though. Congrats on your loss so far! I was sleeved 2/5/14, and as of this morning I'm down 6 pounds from when I came home. Have you tried anything more than creamed soups yet?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
