DestinyRules 0 Posted February 9, 2014 My daughter had the Roux en y surgery years ago,, somewhere between 8-10 years ago. She lost around 150lbs. BUT she has had nothing but complications: 1.Stoma closing off 4-5 times, causing profound vomiting and pain and requiring them to go in and stretch it. 2.The last time they stretched her, they ruptured her stomach anf had to did surgical repair. 3. She has had hernia surgery several times. 4. She got a pacemaker at the age of 27. I feel it is solely related to vegas nerve damage from the roux en y. 5. She has seizures, that are not controlled, even with medication. and when she has a seizure, she is a danger to herself with impaired judgement for at least 48 hours while her brain recovers. She doesn't remember it, but the rest of us go through hell trying to keep her self She has stated over and over that if she had known this was going to happen, she would have never had this surgery. Has anyone here gone through this?
SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted February 9, 2014 You might try the 'Gastric Bypass Complications support Group'. I don't know if anyone's story is similar or not. Good luck. I can't imagine how hard it must be to watch your child suffer.
