I am on day 5 of the pre-op liquid diet. I am completely sticking to it and have already lost 9 pounds. I am just really tired! Is this normal? I was a big diet Pepsi and tea drinker before so I am thinking it's the caffeine withdrawal that's making me tired. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Surgery is Feb. 19th. Seems like it’s years away. This pre-op diet kinda stinks!

I was exhausted the entire 2 week liquid diet!! Like, I'm gonna pass out, I can't even move kind of tired!! I was sleeved 2 days ago and feel way better now than I did before!! I can't explain it, but that's my experience so far. Best of luck to you!!

I started on my sublingual Vitamin b supplement since I've been on my modified 2 week diet( I have three shakes and a tiny dinner). It really helped me, I can tell a difference if I forget to take it.

Just hang in there your surgery will be here soon enough.. Your body is having withdrawals from carbs, as well as your diet drinks. Get some rest..slow down with your activity when u feel tired. Yes try the suggestion of a sublingual B12. Remember|. This too shall pass".

I was tired at first, then about day 5 I started feeling human again. Could be the caffeine withdrawal, my doc wanted me off caffeine before I started the pre-op diet.

One thing that helped me was green tea. I drank a lot of it - it replaced my coffee.

You're so close - keep sticking to your plan!

My surgery is also the 19th. I'm at the end if day 4, and tonight is the first time I have had any kind of energy. I'm hoping it stays this way.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
