Still feeling terrible. Took short term disability from work to focus on my recovery. I think my biggest thing is struggling to get my liquids in. It's discouraging to see everyone doing so well and I am stuck feeling weak, dizzy and tired :(

Smart move on the disability if you're still not feeling well.

When you say you're struggling with liquids are you struggling with Water or your Protein shakes?

Everyone is soooo different. I was off a full 6 weeks from work and it was the best thing for me. I had a very rough surgery (mine was a conversion from lap band to sleeve) full of recovery complications, a 4 day stay in the hospital and a lot of pain. I felt much better by week 4 but was still very fatigued. I did start walking on a treadmill at the gym but could only manage 15-20 minutes. Be patient and all the best to you.

I had surgery on Friday in Mexico, flew back home on Monday and went back to work on Tuesday but I don't really have a boss and work in an office alone so I really only worked a couple of hour and went home. I was sleeping quite a bit though which I think was a good thing. I'm also 4 weeks out (on Feb. 10th) and I'm blessed to feel as well as I do. I realized early on that the only times I felt really bad was when I didn't get in enough Protein and liquids. I too was having a very hard time with the liquids but know that juices count as liquids also. The only way I can even come close is to sip ALL day long. Always have your water/juice/protein shake bottle with you. I've been mixing up the Protein Shake with fruit, bananas, and I find 32 ounces gone before/around noon. After that I try to do one to two bottles of Water. I went thru a stage where I couldnt stand another Protein Shake but couldn't really eat meat so I just kept eating shrimp since it was easy to digest but playing around with the Protein shakes has helped a lot. I actually look forward to them everyday now. I hope you feel better soon and keep in mind that everyone is different so you have to find your niche to drinking and eating so you can feel better.

I am nearly 4 weeks and start back at work Monday. I am still battling fatigue. Not too much problem with Protein or fluids as long as I remember to keep at it. I did have 2 infections postoperative and now have some new abdominal pain (tiny hernia maybe?? We will see...) I don't think I will get in full work days this week but it is a long commute - an hour each way - so 4 hours at work is 6 hours from the house. I am managing to walk half an hour nearly every day. Just not bouncing back as fast as I did when I was younger. But - losing lots of weight!!!

Oh wow I am not even thinking of working out. Getting up to go to the bathroom gets me out of breath. I was pretty athletic beforehand too ugh. I am having lots of trouble with liquids. Might be why I'm so weak and I can't take my Bari Vitamins. They make me Puky.

A wise doctor once told me, "if you feel totally droopy, maybe you are literally wilted from lack of Water. Hydrate and maybe you will feel better." She was right about me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
