dlm59 16 Posted February 8, 2014 Will be 4 weeks on Tuesday. Things are going well and I can't wait to go back to work. I work retail full time which means I'm on my feet standing 7-8 hours a day! I'm not thrilled about this because I still get pain an exhaustion. Please share your going back to work experiences I'm just wondering if I'm biting off more than I can chew. Thanks
Band07 374 Posted February 8, 2014 I had surgery on Friday afternoon and was back at work full days by Tuesday, yes I got tired easily and when I came home I crashed on the couch for a bit but by two weeks out I was back to normal life like it never even happened. FitnFabfor2014 358 Posted February 9, 2014 Hi, I had my surgery Jan 7th, and I went back to work Jan 28th. I took the extra time to make sure I was healed and ready. I was tired the first week back (I work at a school), but it was fine. Just remember to pack your food and liquids. I get so busy at work I forget to eat/drink...not good. So easy to get dehydrated. I found it easier than being at home though.....I love my job, I was bored out of my mind at home. Good luck during your 1st week back at work. Do you feel ready? Revision12714 10 Posted February 9, 2014 I had surgery on Monday, January 27th, and went back to work on Thursday, February 6th. I still cannot eat or drink anything, and have to hook up to tpn through a picc line for 14 hours a night. I am not in pain, and it has probably been easier going back to work since I don't have to try to get fluids in thorough the day yet. The hard part is getting home and getting the tpn hooked up fast, so it can run for 14 hours before I have to get up and be ready to go back to work. I teach kindergarten, so I am very busy at work. the first day was hard, I was exhausted by the time I got home, but the second day was much easier.
dlm59 16 Posted February 9, 2014 Thanks I'm still hurting quite a bit. I'm hoping to go back 1 or 2 weeks part time. I don't want to be a whimp though. My band was completely covered with scar tissue. The scar tissue even went over to my liver. Maybe that's why I hurt so much. :/

My doctor originally sent me back on modified work (part time), but it only lasted one day. It just got too crazy. You're not a wimp at all. Once you get back into the grind again, it will feel normal.

How do you make it all day if you can't drink anything? Plus you are chasing around little people all day (I chase around high schoolers, they don't do much running haha). Revision12714 10 Posted February 9, 2014 Yep, 14 hours each evening. I hook it up at 4 pm, and it is finished and ready to disconnect at 6 am the next morning. That gives me time to get ready for work. I do get thirsty, but I am just having to ignore it.

msfitn2014 248 Posted June 2, 2014 I went to work after 3 weeks, I sit at a desk for 10-12 hrs a days. Luckily I went back on a Thursday and only worked 8hrs that Thursday and Friday....I got up every 2 hours to stretch my legs and walk around because I started feeling sore by sitting sooo long. That next week I started working 10 hours. I took my 2 15 min breaks, my 30 min lunch and I also took 5min walks every 2 hours. If I sat for a long time I started getting sore...the 3rd week I was working 12 hours a day. I took my Snacks everyday, my g2 Gatorade, my Water and my Protein shakes..my only problem was I had to use the bathroom a lot, anything I ate only stayed on my stomach for an hour so it appeared I was constantly up but luckily my boss is great 1 ErinMarie reacted to this
