I was originally Banded in December 2010. I'm being Re-Banded on 2/09/14.

Any other 2nd time Banders out there?

I'm curious, why are you being rebanded? Did you have a slip? Also, does your insurance pay for the new surgery? Even if your bmi is lower than 30/40 now?

I too had surgery in December 2010 with no problems. Why are you being rebanded if I may ask?

My Band slipped in June 2012. They took all Fluid out & although band went back into place it just didn't act the same. I just can't get to that green zone again. This is very common after a slippage.

Yes Aetna pays 100%. I was approved within a week. I had my choice of the Sleeve or another Band & being that I've done so well with it (102 lbs) lost. I chose to be banded again. Plus I know how the band works with my body, & what to expect. The slippage & how it happened I think I can avoid again. We all learn from our mistakes.

I think ins covered it because it's considered as a mechanical malfunction. Even with band filled to almost the max 10cc. I'm still hungry with no satisfaction of feeling full. Also on the X-ray while Doctor watching me swallow the barium, it just flowed straight through. So right then & there he knew I wasn't exaggerating.

Well, Well, Well, God Looks Out!!!!! I had my new LapBand put in yesterday 2/11/14 & all went well. I have NO gas or shoulder pain whatsoever. Just sore around incision sites. So on the real notes the difference between being banded 12/22/10 & 2/09/14 is that 2nd time around I knew what to expect. Also, I have less soreness this time, but never any gas or shoulder pain either times, in fact I've spoken to several patients in the waiting room & at seminars throughout the 3yr span & not one of them complained of Gas or shoulder pain. One of the Nurses stated that it's most likely because the Surgeons in this group elevate the patients during surgery so the gases don't get trapped. Well to all my Banded Brothers & Sisters Good luck on your lifetime journeys & stay focused.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
