Two years ago I signed up on here, and started my journey for the lap band. 1 1/2 months in to my pre op I found out I was pregnant.

I put everything on hold and was blessed with my baby girl. We had 3 boys before her.

So now our family is complete, my tubes are tied. And I'm back on my journey. My heaviest weight was 325 right after my daughter was born. 1/28/13. One year since my daughter has been born I decided on New Years to call my surgeon and start again. This time I have changed my mind, I don't want the lap band now, but I'm going for the gastric bypass. The day I called my surgeon I weighed in at 313. Today I weigh 290. I'm doing well on my pre on diet, I've lost 23lbs in the last month. I joined the gym, and go regularly. Between 4 and 5 days a week for 1 1/2. I started the c25k program. After killing myself walk/jogging on the treadmill for an hour, and completing 3miles. I use the pool to swim laps.

My challenges is the food. I'm doing it. But I'm a big foodie! I garden etc. ohh and I forgot to mention I'm a baker! Yeah I know! Do I make wedding cakes etc. so I'm ok with healthier food, but I'm training myself to not eat like I use to. I miss bring FULL. I'm using my fitness pal, and weilos! And looking forward to surgery in May!

WELCOME TAKINGALEAP!! I HAVE ULOADED TWO WELCOME GIFTS FOR YOU AND ANYONE ELSE WHO READS THIS......AGAIN WELCOME!!!!

For those of you who live more on the west side of the US where Safeway stores are or if your local stores in your area carry Lucerne brands, Lucerne low fat frozen yogurt is absolutely excellent!! I am not kidding. They only make a hand full of flavors but they are fabulous. And the price is so very affordable. I got some today on sale 2/$5.00 and the regular price is $2.99 for the large size which is 1.5 quart. It contains 0.5 grams of fat, 14 grams of sugar, and 4 grams of Protein per 1/2 cup...............WOW!! I couldn't wait to share this info :D

I am currently enjoying the Black Cherry chocolate Chip and it is heavenly. I am 4 weeks post op as of today and so happy to have found this item I couldn't keep it to myself. Lucerne also makes a chocolate & vanilla. I have emailed the company to see what other flavors Lucerne makes because sometimes not all stores will carry the entire line. I also requested coupons as well. I have uploaded a pic of the item........... :D ENJOY BARIATRIC PALS ;)

Great job on your pre op weight loss! You are going to be gorgeous before you even hit your goal weight. It sounds like you're really committed to this process, and I know you will be very successful! I love to garden as well and was so happy to see the nurseries in Charleston start to stalk up on pansies and other pretty flowers. Hopefully my pots will be planted by mid March :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
