Work Travel - weight fluctuations (blah!)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I just started back at work. My work generally required me to travel 4 days a week and typically work very long hours. This makes eating right and exercising more of a challenge.

Yesterday as I was on my way back home, I was feeling great. My project is interesting and going great! I worked out everyday - found a yoga and spinning studio that I could drop in at. I ate well - with one not so fantastic, but not horrible meal out with the client and supplier. So I was just feeling like I had this - I could do it.

This morning when I weight myself, I was up 1.2 lbs. It is so frustrating! The weight loss had already been slowing down, so I was hoping for a good drop.

Could this be Water retention from the airline travel? I know this is normal and if I keep doing everything I should then things will move. But ahh! It is a mind f*!k.

I hope everyone has a great Friday. thanks for listening.

Get away from the scale! I think people think I'm nuts because they don't see my little ticker moving, but I weigh once a week or less, and it keeps me happy! This time around, I am giving myself 2 weeks in between weigh-ins, because it makes the loss bigger and makes me feel a sense of accomplishment. I use my bariatric center's scale because I know it is always accurate. If I owned my own, I'd be on it 20 times a day making myself crazy.

You did what you were supposed to do! Keep up the great work and get off that scale!!!!!!!! ;)

I, too, travel for work. I always weigh more the day after air travel. Always.

Thank you guys!

I just went to the gym and feel great. The scale is just a number, but feeling great is the real goal right. (I'm still kind of addicted to the scale, but am trying to get away from it.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
