Had your lap band 3 or more years?

Recommended Posts

5 years in July 2007 (had a healthy baby in 2004).

Went from 320ish to 185 (BMI 47-26).

Still losing sporadically-would like to lose 10-15 more pounds. Gained 20 or so back last year when I was in a very stressful job. Since then lost it and 20 more.

I think I've had about 5 fills. I've been very fortunate to need little fill.

No complications except that my pouch is stretched and we are trying to correct that with liquids for a month so we'll see. Hopefully it will be okay. I already feel more restriction. My own fault, still occasionally overeat (dealing with compulsive overeating is hell at times). BEWARE OF THIS!

Absolutely no regrets.

The way it was explained to me was not that the band itself was stitched, but the lower portion of the stomach was brought up, and stitched over the band. Then scar tissue will form, and hold the band in correct positioning.

Which is why you are not allowed to eat for an extended period of time---it needs that time for healing, movement impedes the healing process, and digesting food causes movement.

He showed me a mock up of a stomach, with a band and how they would stitch the stomach itself. He did say STITCH, because he referred to the moist environment, and how much longer it takes for those stitches to heal, than say on your hand---or the outside on your belly.

Kept me drinking like I was told---that's for sure!!!

You just did it!!!

You just post into the thread, and it "bumps" it back into the newest threads....there is a smiley bump as well!!! But you have to type words as well---the post has to be a certain # of characters.
